Dunno. I got it free. Love the sturdy feel, brushed metal expresso finish, and the 5mp camera with flash. I thought it took shitty pictures until i uploaded my pics to my comp. Than it was like o_O holy shit.

You must not have even graduated high school.

This topic is about the new iPhone. It is not the only phone to have 720p nor the first. It does not have 4g networking..because that isn't available, hence why apple calls it iphone 4, and not 4g. The only thing it has up on other phones is that amazing IPS screen.

Don't make a topic and blindly support some phone if you don't want people to argue..

why do you insist it's anything to do with the mobile phone internet?

the iphones are 1g, 2g, 3g, 3gs (slight upgrade on the 3g) and now 4g.

apple has on more then one occasion refered to their products by their generation, that been each itteration of the same product like ipods 4g and 5g they dont even support internet. granted the latest bog standard ipod is now called ipod classic but this is beyond my point.

The iphone is called iphone 4 BUT you are not wrong to call it 4g and it has nothing to do with the internet so jump off your high horse acting right when you clearly dont understand i figured i made my point in the last comment i made on it albiet quite brash with my usual insult which i shall for-go in this reply.

im slightly wrong here for the 3g it was intended to represent the network but besides this the g in 4g is to represent generation not the network but i have said that iphone 4 is it's correct name, but you are not wrong to call it iphone 4g

I'm sure if Apple wanted you to refer to it as the iPhone 4G, they'd refer to it as that.

well aslong as you realise it can be correctly refered to as the 4g forth generation been as it is the forth generation then no problems at all im not arguing its official name just that it can be called 4g

Yes, iPhone 4 is the fourth generation but to refer to it as 4G because of that reason would easily incite confusion (case in point, this thread). You have three conflicting terms that are valid on the same context - Generation, Wireless Standard, and Name.

You can't go on saying "I have the iPhone 2G". Does 2G mean second generation, in which case it's the iPhone 3G? Or does it mean the wireless support, in which case it's the original iPhone?

Generation --- Wireless Standard --- Name
---- 1G ------------------- 2G ------------ Original
---- 2G ------------------- 3G ------------ 3G
---- 3G ------------------- 3G ------------ 3GS
---- 4G ------------------- 3G ------------ 4

So what do you do when you have these conflicting terms? You stick to what the marketernames them. Now if next year Apple releases their 5G that supports 4G... Aww shi-

lol@AT&T getting 4g (the network) soon... If it covers as much space (probably less) as their 3g network, it'll be just as dumb and useless. Not everyone lives in the major cities.
