Yanks call their country AMERICA instead of USA. They use the word SOCCER instead of FOOTBALL. In "Football" players carry the ball with their HANDS, and if you do even TOUCH the ball with your hand in "Soccer", its a violation... So let's think which one matches the word FOOTBALL better...

But volleyball, basketball, football (soccer), baseball make sense...why would american football be called football there is no logic in that

well by the logic of the guy who posted the handegg pic, none of those sports names make sense, because you dont use a base to hit a ball in baseball, or a volley to hit a ball in volleyball, or a basket to hit/play a ball in basketball.
believe it or not, they actually use their feet in (american) football!
and soccer is a word that was used in England as a short word for "association football", its not a word Americans created.

Re: [EVENT] 2010 Global Soccer Festival
The names don't have to be what u hit the ball with. Baskets and bases are just a very important part of these two games.
They hit the ball in American football with their feet too, but almost all the time, they carry the ball in their hands.

Well if u put it that way, u could name every ball game that involves running with your feet football and every ballgame that involves thinking with your head headball.
