Are daggers worth it for Rogue?

Post by Zyphir »

Hello everyone

As some of you know, I got banned, and I still don't know why. Been sending loads of mails to joymax, but they keep on sending me the same standard message :banghead: I'll keep sending mails to them, until they send me a decent reply and show me what I did wrong...

Anyway, I started a new character, a Rogue/Cleric. I'm trying to get some SP from free parties ... pretty hard, but it is working out. Anyway, I was wondering if it is worth for me to get the Dagger skills or not. I'm planning on getting around 100K SP, it's not too much, but I can't be bothered to really get more. So my question, is it worth to get dagger skills or not?

And another question: I tried to run SilkRoad on Virtualbox, but it just won't start ... I start everything, but it stays on that screen just before you get the big login screen. I once managed to start, but I had lik 2 min. lag delay, I couldn't even login ... Everyone knows what the problem is? I put 1Gig ram and 128 MB video membery to virtualbox ...

Greetz :)

daggers are useful for pvp, but for grinding xbow is much better.

Xbow is the best for PvE, daggers are a must for PvP and the dagger skills look cool. Also, Prick is the strongest physical attack skill on SRO :D It's up to you whether you take them or not, they're not really needed when you don't pvp alot.

Idk an answer to your second question :/

If you only plan on using the character for PvE just stick with xbow, if you want to PvP add daggers.
Daggers are a must for PvP in my opinion, knock your opponent down and finish them off with your daggers.

Owkey, thanks :) I'm not that much of a PvP'er, as I don't really like the SRO pk system. I like CTF, but there's too many people, making it even useless to try a knockdown-dagger combo.

Ok, guess I'll stick with xbow then :) Saves me loads of SP. Thanks for your replies!

if you are going with an sp-light build just take rogue bard with xbow only.
daggers are only good in a party with backup or when you are a maverick for quick diversions while jobbing.

to the second question

using a virtual machine for wont work unless you have 256mb vid memory to spare and at least 2Gb RAM to go with it.

And even with that, i'd rather not do it since the programms the goldbots use take advantage of the virtual machine for connecting and even goin clientless:
you might see your account on the banlist after using it.

OK thanks for the reply.
Now I'm really doubting to dlvl my cleric for bard (Only got 10 cleric and about 6 skills, so should only take me like 160 curst hearts). I thought cleric sub would be nice as backup in a party, but with the amount of MP I'll have, I won't nearly have enough to even cast 2 spells ... So maybe I should go for Bard after all?

...or you can skip a sub for even less sp farming.

i use daggers for both pvp and pve. i grind orange/red mobs. use xbow at range and when they get close finish them off with daggers. i get hit maybe once per mob. but tats just how i play. keeps me entertained, plus the scud skill is good for running from pty & giants.

cleric sub for soloers enables you to hunt monsters a rogue/bard wouldn't (areas with alot of giants or bunches of pt mobs)
in a pt it is a good backup, but only as far as your mp goes, you will eat mp pots like there's no tomorrow fi you don't have a bard around.
but you can only start mentioning partying at 9d (if you are lucky, you can get a server with pt's before that)
and will solo most of the time anyway.

I changed my rogue cleric to a bard after figuring i'd not suffer the loss too badly because of soloing all the time.
it got me pretty far without having to farm much at all and i soloing was fine.

would work as well, but heavily restrict the possibilities

Yeah, I'm still thinking about it, cause I've always played with Bard sub and got really used to the speed and noise. And as you say, parties till around lvl 80 are almost impossible to find, so it'll still be soloing anyway. Ah well, gonna start collecting curst hearts and think about it meanwhile, since I still need to farm some more SP.

But now I've looked at it, my MP will be seriously low. On the other hand, Bless and Recovery Division are awesome too :) I'm really in doubt :D

The low MP has never been a real problem for me, once you reach like 8-9D you can always put blues like MP and INT increase on you stuff, it would be a waste of money if you'd put it on lower levels.

Recovery Division and Bless are real life savers, especially against giants and party mobs. Also vigors can be very handy :P

If you miss the speed you can buy drugs if you have the gold, Noise on the other hand is indeed a great advantage of bard - it's your decision

If you're in a party it's better to go with daggers. When grinding alone=Xbow

this is just for pve... but if you go xbow, you dont really have problems fighting giants your lvl (or pt giants). xbow gets hit a lot less than daggers so you dont need the extra heals, the vigor pots you pick up grinding will be enough for giants. You might have problems if a few mobs jump on you while fighting pt giant, but normal giant is fine.

I got a 60 xbow and can fight 2-3 yeti giants at once or 1 pt giant and 1 norrmal... but i usually get dog to tank one so i can fight other one without problems...
