I could live with killing a man who has killed someone else without a "just" reason, but nothing less than that.

Ofcourse there are some exceptions to every rule.

You could have indirectly killed a handful of people already, or in the future.

Dwelling on crap like that is pointless.

You know what? I'm finding hard time writing something that would prove my point, as you and a lot of people 'tlooks, are way too materialistic and selfish (just note out, I ain't religious, so don't bring that thing on), but if your law is something like "eye for an eye", I just simply pity you.

Jstar1 wrote:If we could catch bin laden/kim jong il/george bush alive, I would return all the crimes of humanity they have committed back into their face.

How, if I may ask?

I never commented on whether I would press the button or not. My point is that its incredibly naive and stupid to think that people like kim jong-il has good in them. Humanism doesn't work on people like them..it just doesn't no matter how much you humanists hope. If someone is a serial killer or chronic rapist, those people are useless to society, you can't bring them back to the "light side"; their minds are warped. If we are talking about a petty thief or a schoolyard bully, I don't see why humanism couldn't help.

I agree innocent people get killed, but how often do you think people would make that mistake? Its rare..and killing people in the states isn't as easy as you think. It takes an incredible amount of money and time.

And I'm not talking about a random killer/rapist, I'm talking about the most extreme people like bin laden and kim jong il. Those people deserve to burn in hell and don't give me that "eye for an eye" nonsense, if a guy willingly and happily kills 3000 people, I see no problem in blowing their head off.

I would definately not press the button. Just because its someone you dont know doesnt mean they arent a person and the chances that they are gonna be a rapist/killer is as small of a chance as them knowing you. Plus that person could affect way more lives than you could with a charity in a good way or could be a part of your life in the near to distant future

guilt is such a useless thing... you won't know that person..

I've thought about becoming an assassin when I grow up, but then again.. that's hard..

What if it killed SooYoung or Kahi =O?
You seem to like them :sohappy:

I could go without.. Bekah is hotter anyways, and there's 8 more SNSD hotties to choose from, like Yuri..

That's different. I myself am well aware that while I'm writing this, people are dying. Now tell me it's my fault because I'm wasting time typing this sentences on my PC. Is it?
I guess not. I don't think that you can "indirectly" kill someone. You can accidentally kill someone, but as you say "indirectly" I cannot think that it can be my own fault. People die, let's face it. I ain't totally fine with it ('specially when people die of starvation), but tell me when it actually is my fault.

@Jstar last reply:
I do get your point. It's important to differentiate petty crimes and abnormal cruelties as the second ones may deserve such treatments, but my mind just can't conceive myself hurting someone else. Nor can it think of anyone being human waste. That's it. They follow their ideals, for how insane they can be. But their minds, as you said, are warped. And that's it.
If you want to blow their head off for the "greater good", just do it. Guess it won't change. You shall, though.
Yep, I think I should start to be more realistic as there are too many a thing in this world that cannot be destroyed to create my world of utopia. However I guess I can't. I'll just keep on livin' feeling happy or miserable.
On a side note, I guess you're right as I do not know much of the Death Penality. I just read a journal article where it is said that quite more mistakes than you think are committed. Luckily, some innocent people do avoid death.

disagree.
Hundreds of people are dropping dead (or waking up dead) right.. now. and now. and now. and now. etc, etc...

You won't even notice it! every life on this earth that passes away is being replaced by two more.

Just take the money. and if Magically one of the people you know passes away, then yes, it could have been you. But it could also be their time to go.

Only a few people control when they die, how they die and where they die. And those are dem' suicidals.

Therefore we must ask, which life is more important. That question is hard to answer since the death is 'random' but the odds are pretty damn good.

Don't be so quick to assert the meaning a word holds and with some modesty in mind I would say I am a pretty outstanding being as far as actually nice persons go ( I can see how a different story is likely to be perceived ).

Basically, it's taking only the cream of the crop, the best of the best, to cherry pick people. It would be an idealistic world filled with only elites, a world rid of idiots.

Then don't be surprised when robots replace humans, dude.
Things in the nature are there to balance out. Low IQ and high IQ are for scale. If high IQ human live among a high IQ society where the old low IQ human no longer exist, then the lowest IQ (which is already a high IQ one) in that society is considered "low IQ", relatively talk.

I think there's difference between people dying from bad intentional persons and killing someone for money, even it is random. You can always help people, not only in a financial way, there are so many ways.

As someone stated, pretty sure money changes people mind. You can say that by now, but once you have the money on your pockets, there's a small chance that you will contribute with them, and if you ever do it, you won't spend it all... not even half, and the rest it's for you. So, where's the helping the others, which is not enough, meanwhile one random life was taken?

Lol sup Ice! Anyways...
I don't agree here :(
You said people are dropping dead. Well, its because there's a reasons behind it. No one wants to die at their will. (Depends, maybe)
And you want to kill someone just for money, money for you? No? then money to help others?
So what you said had no sense at all. If people are dying because of something, which is so bad, you want to take someone life when this life is so healthy and it might help others? Again, this is 1 in a billions of chances. Anyone life can be taken, so i have nothing really to argue here. But i want to clarify that the people dropping dead are going to die because of their past (whatever happened to them), and the life you are going to take for the money is at your will.
And it's not about going to hell or heaven.

@Squirt Might be true, the person you are going to kill you probably never going to know but some people just don't think as that. It's doesn't mean about knowing the people you kill, it's about yourself. 1 dead probably won't affect the world but, imo it does affect to me.

Pretty sure while i am writing this post and you reading it, a lot of people are dying. And i feel bad for them. And how we can help? push the button, kill another, get 1 million? Nah. I prefer do it on my way.

You're avoiding the question in truth completely and resorting to silly logic.

Person A needs 1,000,000 to save 1000 lives.
Person B will die if Person A takes the 1,000,000
Person A does not know who Person B is, Person B is *random*

If Person A does not take the 1,000,000 then 1000 people die.

What do you do if you are Person A?

What do you do if you are Person A?

Ok, let see.
If i were the Person A, since i believe in the human rights, no doubt i would press it.
Random person killed. 1000 lives are saved.
Now, since you put it on that way, what if that random people includes you or someone really close to you? (Changing the rules, since OP didn't stated where the 1 million were going to).

I am not against you, in fact i support that theory in some way (except for that random person dies, but it's about equivalence) i am against for those who want to kill someone for their own good, even that person is random!

I refuse to kill someone to get money. But as you said, if it's for helping others... common sense.
But really feeling bad for that person who died. Cause it's different, people die right now, may be true may be not, but once you press the button, it does really killed someone.

some of you guys see life as something expendable, that's why the world is so fcked up today.
thing is, it doesn't matter who will die if you press the button, it's still a life, a human being. if he/she deserved it or not is out of the question.
that carefree attitude towards life is disgusting.
