I don't think it's a bad idea.

$10,000 a month right? So gather up the initial amount needed. I think gathering $10,000 in donations is doable. Maybe not in one month but over 2-3 months I think possible.

Have the item mall. Charge half that of iSRO IMO, unless Joymax has a fixed price. Even then if SRF players pay say $20/month, you would only need 500 players. 35% to Joymax plus server fees. I say go for target of 800 paying players.

And then cost for bot well could be cheap if you can get SRF volunteers. A few from US, some from EU to ensure GMs on at all times.

Could be better than Joymax, IMO give GMs the right to ban. You would trust the GMs to be fair, so choose carefully. Have the TOS pretty much says, a GM can ban you if GM concludes you are botting. There is no talk back, no arguement, no discussion, you're banned.

Keep it simple. Could work.

Each of the SRO versions that Joymax does not own are in areas where there is no competition for any of Joymax's versions. If any international company/community were to own a legitamate SRO then that would destroy Joymax's profit -> they're not going to sell their rights.

This idea can work. But first it would have be a group of people living in the same country who are more than willing to travel and get to meet each other. They all can sign contractual agreements before they invest their money. All earnings can be handled by a bank which automates the distribution of investment returns to each member.

The only major problem is that these people would likely know how to properly run SRO that it would make iSRO go out of business and joymax wouldn't want that. Just like the post above mines said.

I like the idea, I really do.

But well.... I doubt it will ever get anywhere as I do NOT believe that Joymax will sell the files, lol :D

I loves it. :dope:

It would be horribly expensive though, maybe if everyone helped make payments but that's not really a safe option..

That's basically what Joymax does for other SRO versions. I'm pretty sure Joymax does not run every SRO version, like the vietnamese version, maybe cSRO, and the like.

If a group of people from SRF got together and formed a gaming company, got a decent customer base, good business model, started getting a good stream of revenue... Then go to Joymax and ask to host their game, why wouldn't Joymax want to do it (depending on the situation)? As long as the new company is stable enough, can handle running the game, and Joymax gets some percentage of the profits, anything is possible.

It's certainly not going to happen with just a group of SRFers pooling money together and saying "let's franchise SRO". It's not going to happen overnight.

Plus when Joymax discovers you illegally obtained their proprietary software, they'll just sue you. When you're done being drug through court, you won't have much money left to attempt to buy a license for their server files, even if they're willing to sell to you at that point.

Idk why, but I love reading your posts PR0 :sohappy: but yeah, bottom line is easier said than done. Won't happen unless like BuDo pointed out, a group of people actually do it face-to-face. Eventhen, you still have the massive cost to deal with, and then contacting Joymax. It would definitely bring benefits in the long run; meh.

I think this is a funny remark. It was made before, when everyone still thought that it would cost millions of $$$.

Now that someone pointed out that it's 3K$ a month, I actually think that with a proper group of people and a decent business plan, some bank might actually lend you some money.
It's not that expensive, 36K$ a year for server cost, and I guess you'll be starting to break even after a month or 6.
