Hello. This is Silkroad Online.

Using illegal programs is against Silkroad Online's Operation Policy.

Players who use these programs will be investigated and punished by several methods including account blocking. Their Character IDs will be listed in our homepage.

Stop using illegal programs if you do not wish to be blocked PERMANENTLY.

The banned list for all servers has been posted here.

* Number of Illegal Program Users blocked: Approximately 7,000.

* What is an Illegal Program (or Bot program)?
Any software or application that runs concurrently, takes over, or replaces the Silkroad Online game client with the main purpose of partly or wholly playing as the human user in the game.

Yeah, I was a bit surprised that no one bothered to start a thread about that announcement so far. I guess people just don't give a crap about what Joymax says anymore. Their phoney war against bots is getting worn out.

those are fake bans / fake announcements , nobody gives a dam cuz nobody see a difference , when i see servers easy 24/7 i will start to buy silk . till then won't spend a cent on a game that nobody gives a dam for . I can't log on even though I've left my PC on all night for 2 nights trying to. But yet 7000 accounts where banned?... Why should I believe that? And if it is true why bother mention it when 10,000 more botters mustav replaced those 7000 which could be the reason why I can't log on?

Because 7000 is nothing. How many servers are there? around 40, thats less than 200 bots on each server. And that is way to little to make a difference.

I doubt they perma ban the spam bots. Probs just give em 7 day bans, so it looks like they're gone, then they come back and then it turns into a big cycle. And Mindy's right, they don't ban that many bots if you look at the bigger picture.

Aww come on Goseki, Joymax is trying so hard! The GMs can only do so much to ban botters. They would be able to ban more for sure, but the GMs have such a hard time logging in with all the server traffic. When they do get in, the game lags horribly for them and they get disconnected randomly in a few minutes only to have to wait in the login queue again. However, the GMs continue to persevere, banning as many botters as they possibly can while the rest of the community laughs in the GMs' faces. Have you no decency? No respect? LEAVE THEM ALONE!!!!!!!111!1!!!!!1!!ONE11!!ELEVEN11111!!!!

Ok I must admit that 7,000 botters banned throughout 38+ servers is a bit sad.

What Joymax should do is close down the new account registration for a while until they can clean the game up and put up some new defenses.

as far as I always knew, they ban accounts, not IP addresses. So why wouldn't botters just create new accounts and start over...

It might not replace any files, but it has to add new files somewhere. It might also add entries to the Windows Registry, assuming you're playing SRO on Windows. Joymax could check for any of those files or registry entries.

Or they could just simply check for any 'odd behavior' of your character on the server end. Does your character stand on a stack of 25 other characters when visiting the herbalist or the blacksmith? Does your character run, stop, run, stop, run, stop... on the same set of points in the same order in the same path as 200 characters before it? You don't have to replace any SRO files to be detected.

Or if they actually put some GMs in-game, they could just stand there in town and just write names down. Rotate 3-4 shifts for a couple days and they should have a lot of those bots down. The thing is.. they can't really do an IP block since a lot of people have dynamic IPs. (At least, I do.) Another option for them is to maybe do a regional IP block, but then you'd be out of luck if your entire neighborhood is a goldbot community. lol
