Even if they do and they get deported, they will be back the next day. Arizona is right on the border for those of you that aren't experts in geography like myself.

Obama just can't say I don't like this law, so I want it removed. The tenth amendment explicitly gives states their sovereignty. That does not mean though that I agree with this law. In fact, I'm in favor of repealing it because it basically legalized racial profiling.

But the Federal government should not have the power to intervene at will. Federalism must hold up. If they want to do something, take the law to the Supreme Court. That is what the Constitution, the law of the land that people conveniently forget, dictates.

what baffles me about us Americans is why no one has yet bothered to do something about illegal immigration. If its illegal..its illegal and you shouldn't be here, why is that such a hard concept to understand?

And its also a national security issue. Arab terrorists just have to fly to mexico, cross the border with bombs strapped to their chests and then blow themselves up in phoenix, las vegas, etc.

What people don't understand is, it's not about the illegals. It's about the LEGALS that happen to be of Mexican decent or any other Spanish speaking country being constantly harassed, and forced to walk with there legal documents. The law sounds good on paper, but in reality we all know how farked up cops can be, especially in AZ... How would you feel if you need to be constantly stopped for papers just because you look "illegal"?

Yes, because it's so easy to fly to mexico with bombs on your chest, and because most of them really hop the border. Illegals don't really hop the border as much as they used too, they come here with a travel visa, once the visa expires, they stay.

I have an idea, how about every citizen of every state is required to carry some sort of ID and the government creates some system that can quickly check your citizenship status.

Something like, your social security?

Or some sort of fingerprint scanner software

no I mean in general, our country is just like yeah whatever when it comes to illegal immigrants. The arizona law is heavy-handed but if theres any way to deport illegal people out of our country im up for it. If I was arizona, I'd try the new law and if it becomes a real problem with racial profiling then change it.

no we can't do that because sensible ideas make tea partiers and republicans want to kill obama.

The fingerprinting software is actually not a bad idea at all. Having ID's would just cause problems, like lets say you lose it, and a cop pulled you over.

That's already active in the Netherlands (well not the illegal checking part), but our cops don't just pull you over to "oh lol, just checking if you're not illegal". There is such a thing as reasonable suspicion, and just being a Hispanic should not be enough reason to ID someone. Because you know.. civil liberties and all that stuff, trying to keep those as alive as possible is not important at all.

Yeah, useless stuff. Just gets in the way of, say, death sentence without trials, torture interrogation, and all the other necessary stuff.

um... like driver's license?
A driver's license or state ID is considered the primary form of identification in the United States...After 9/11, the federal government has added extra security measures when obtaining a state identification card, driver license, and social security card among other legal documents. A new federal law (called the Real ID Act) was introduced that made it a requirement to show proof of legal immigration status in the United States to obtain a drivers license from any state. As of May 2008, driver licenses issued by the states that do not meet these requirements will not be accepted as legal identification to gain entry into a federal building or to board an airplane in the United States. All 50 U.S. states are gradually updating their requirements and starting to request proof of [legal] immigration status in the United States. However, in several states it is still possible for illegal immigrants to obtain driver's licenses and state IDs.

so what makes them think if they can get around the driver's license, does making them carry another piece of paper work any better?

Also I'm not white or black... I was born in the US so no immigration papers... I visit Arizona, oh snap no immigrations paper... Not going to bring my passport/birth certificate to visit friends while staying in the US... Do I get arrested for not being white?

Radioshack can pull up my address from 10 years ago along with other personal details taken from when I bought some batteries for a cd walkman.

Yet the US government can't even use a computer search through their own databases for citizenship and immigration statuses.

Congressman Duncan Hunter wants to deport the child of illegal immigrants who are born in the U.S. and thus American citizens.
