Well, a few things wrong with this snappy remark :)
1. I am not inspecting them, I am not testing their pulse, if he was lying face down almost on the street, that is an indicator that something is a little bit wrong.
2. I would call 911, because as a Long Islander, I rarely see these kinds of things, except in the city, but I am just saying, that 25 people ignoring him, is ridonculous.
3. Not all long islanders are rude/intolerant/indifferent to humanity.

BTW @EvGa I wasn't surprised either :)

1. He wasn't face down. If you look at the video he could easily be confused for someone sleeping. So i could rephrase the question and ask, do you go up to any homeless man who may be sleeping or may be passed out and inspect them?

To most people who live in/commute to that city homeless people are a daily part of life. Its not exactly shocking to hear of them being violent or robbing people or getting drunk and passing out and a surprisingly large amount of homeless people have a mental illness(probably the cause of them being homeless). I'm not saying they're all like this but it would take an extremely naive person to walk up to a homeless man who looks like he's sleeping and and arouse him to be sure he's ok. Especially someone who has no idea of how to deal with homeless people, like people from Long Island.

2. Call 9/11 over what? A homeless man apparently sleeping on the sidewalk at night? They say "pool of blood" but if you watch the video even after the guy shakes and moves him there's not a large pool, its not even a pool, fairly certain i've had nosebleeds that looked worse than that.

3. I didn't say that, you did. Long Island is known for being an affluent neighborhood and affluent people are often quite ignorant. Your entire post proves just how ignorant you are about these kinds of incidents and you even admit it. To add to your lack of knowledge or experience in dealing with homeless people you go on to suggest that you would approach this downed being and inspect him to be sure he was ok and then you go the final, possibly the worst step, you pass judgment on others for NOT stopping to help the guy.

You might as well have said. "I know nothing about homeless people, their mental state, their numbers in NYC, or the daily lives of the people who interact with them on a daily basis but shame on everyone and all for not thinking about helping that guy who may or may not have been simply sleeping on the sidewalk because from the footage we've seen there is nothing apparently wrong with him"

Cause thats how i read it...

Me too... i live in the phrase "Mind my own business" (if its not in my concern, i leave it) support below...

XemnasXD wrote:If he was laying in a pool of blood yeah i'd have stepped in but from what the article says he took awhile to bleed out and the picture shows him wearing alot of baggy clothing. Its possible no one noticed the stab wounds through all of that especially at night. I'm not rude to homeless people but im not a bleeding heart, theres too many of them for that and i've got my own shit to worry about. If i saw a homeless man lying on the pavement i'd assume he was drunk and keep my distance if i could in case he did something stupid, i think most people would and i don't think thats rude or inhumane. Really the only person who should be ashamed is the women he helped because she knew what had happened to them...everyone else can't be faulted for indifference...

A better example of moral failure was posted a while ago..

There were a few actors set up in a store, one of them pretending to be blind. The cashier (an actor) would take an order from the blind person (another actor) and tell them that the 20 they were paying with was actually a 5 or a 10 (aka ripping them off). Everyone in line could see it...

And...surprise surprise some people let it go unnoticed while a few others said wtf and voiced their concern.

I also remember a dutch case where a woman was stabbed in front of a group of people.
The guy stabbing her only had eye for her, completly phycho.
The people standing around dint do anything for a while, some filmed it with a cellphone.
Then a few guys kicked him VERY softly, but the just just kept on stabbing.

It would have been like 20 against 1.
Someone should have just kicked that guy in the face so hard he would be out right away.
Thats moral failure if you ask me

wow makes me loose faith in humanity...I mean seriously wtf It would not have taken more than 10 seconds out of their conceded lives to call 911 to save a fellow human being who just put his life on the line for someone else.

Almost every single human being is as well trained as some dogs. Psychology gets the best of us. If it was some guy wearing an Armani suit he'd be helped long time ago. It's time we start to re-evaluate our values and perception of the world around us.
