I've been dying to play some SRO of any sort lately, to be honest. Can't be bothered to try iSRO, because of the traffic, and the practical impossibility of being capped and FF legitimately. If your server is to open soon, I'd really like to know how it goes, and I might consider joining. I haven't read what I should do in order to be able to register some way, but I'll read up soon.

They are open to a lawsuit as long as they are using codes they do not own the copyrights to. In other words if they haven't bought the rights from Joymax to use their server files and client, they are guilty of copyright infringement. They don't have to actually be making a profit for themselves to hurt Joymax's revenue. -No lawyer talk, but that is pretty basic- and as we've already seen JM has gone after one of the more popular servers. You could say it's because they were making a profit, but JM was losing potential profit from the players that played on private servers instead of their servers. Some how according to the law... that is just as good as stealing from the company itself. Since this is international law and it is cyber theft it is a bit complicated, so you never know... and its not like lawyers even need a reason to sue someone these days.

Anyways, good luck to you guys on getting the server going, I hope it all works out. Its pretty decent how you guys are going about doing this server. Showing that you actually care about playing silkroad and having a good time; not making money, and not just doing what you can to get paid. Because Joymax has already lost its way, and for most of us ISRO just isn't the game we thought it would turn into back at 60 cap. Seems it takes 1 step forward and two steps back, so I really do hope you guys can bring Silkroad back to the good ol'days.

this is the problem with todays generation. internet know-it-alls. i doubt youd run your mouth if you didnt have google. just so you know, not everything you find on the internet is 100% accurate. take more than 10 seconds to do research before you get all tough and rugged on an sro forum.

Well, but he is right, emulators is just as illegal as the server files, they can get sued and sooner or later they probably will.

What was the amount of cash Ocean got sued for? I may be a little over the top but wasnt it 1 million bucks or maybe it was 100 thousand? Either way, If they get sued for that they probably dont wanna come back, it's a pretty high price to pay just to run a private server.

Different games have different TOS and different Companies running the show. So you can't apply that to Silkroad private servers. You got some crazy logic going on for ya.

-Still I'm all for a good private server... who cares if its for them to make profit from... As long as it is an enjoyable experience they got my 2 bucks.
