Xbox 360?

Post by alexkyler »

Hi, I am undecided if i will buy a xbox console, i want it to play modern warfare 2 on it, atm i have mw2 on pc...i have some questions about this xbox:

1.From what i heard the console is at a native res of 720, i have a lcd that can go up to 1080, can i run the game at 1080 instead of 720?
2.Is mw2 running at 60 fps on console?(i got a med-high pc and i get without v-sync on 100-300 fps)
3.Is playing on the controller more fun that the mouse/keyboard?
4.I heard from some1 saying that on the xbox you have opportunity to play with friends, how come?
i saw on youtube videos where players on xbox communicate betweem team and they have some kind of teamplay,is the comunity better on xbox?

1.It runs at like 540p then upscale to 720p. Your PC version would be running full resolution with no upscale.

2.On the consoles, mw2 has v-sync on. It's locked to 60 fps

3.Joysticks are less precises then a mouse. So the game has HEAVY aim assist to help out. If you never played a FPS with a controller, there is going to be a lot of the "I wanted my crosshairs to go over there but it didn't happen" or "If I was using a mouse I would got that kill"

4.You can play with friends on the pc version as well. Just add player on steam. Mw2 is basically the same exact game on the console and pc. It's just there is probably 500,000 more ppl playing on the consoles.

1. Game will run at 720 for mw2.
2. 60fps is locked.
3. Depends on preference, some people don't like controller, others don't like mouse/keyboard.
4. Xbox (and PS3) have an easy way to add friends and to party up with them and play games together.
5. The community for probably every console (PC included) is 90% racist little kids that need to have the mic taken away. Some game modes, almost nobody talks at all.

As for aim assist, you still have to do the aiming, but once in a while the game will take over the aim in very small ways. I find it to be a pain in the ass, some people are able to use it to their advantage to get a kill.

It doesn't actually look like 1280x720..

If you play MW2 on a 60" plasma, you'll be amazed at how nice it looks. You can't compare PC gaming resolution with television gaming. Back of my game says..

nah not auto aim lol. When your crosshairs go around a player it, the game slows them down to help steady people's aim a little.

Also, I don't know if it's on the pc too but, if you aim down your sight slighty besides a player it will lock on when you look through your sights.

1080p on Xbox will be upscaled, meaning there isn't any more detail or quality than if it was just on 720p.

Also Xbox AND PS3 titles are generally 30 FPS. In order for games to run at higher FPS, console versions have to reduce quality substantially. 30 FPS for BC2 is pretty much cranking the limits of PS3 can do. And for most PC gamers, 30 FPS and 50 FPS are big differences, I know plenty of PC FPS players who won't play unless they have stead 50+ FPS, nothing less. You may be one of them, don't know. MW2 looks substantially better on PC than console BTW, you will notice the difference as MW2 is locked in at 60 FPS, they had to do a lot to do that and you will notice it.

But overall, playing MW2 on console will be different than on your PC. Something called auto-aim, MASSIVE MASSIVE difference. Also if you notice, you can't twitch aim in Console, watch people play on PS3 and 360, plenty of em on Youtube. Your style of play on the PC will be vastly different from playing on Console

Actually one of the biggest disappointments of COD MW2 is the console aspect. Even on PC, the gameplay is console FPS. It's not as skilled or as team based as it the original COD MW was. This was of great disappointment for many PC Gamers.

Despite Consoles looking better than ever, and really stunning. It can't be compared to PC. 360 is DX9 and PS3 is dated, old OpenGL.
- Some games for PC don't look better because the ports are horrific. Any Ubisoft game for example recently are terrible and disrespectful to PC gamers. They are straight up DX9 shitty console ports. But for games like BC2 which actually use DX10 and DX11, you should see a lot of differences.

Also keep in mind for games like BC2, PC version will be substantially better online play as console is limited to 16 where PC is 32. And I'm pretty DICE won't even bother releasing BF3 on consoles as that game is all about having well beyond 32 player battles.

Also the Ghz for the speeds on the 360 CANNOT compare to the PC. Different technology but more importantly... The latest PC hardware can process MUCH MUCH MUCH MUCH more data per clock cycle than what's in the 360.

For example, my i7 across 4 cores is only 1.7ghz. My older Dual Core was 2.8 Ghz. But when playing say 1080p video off of CPU, no GPU, i7 only uses 7% whereas it used 70% on the Dual Core. Ghz does not equal Ghz, it's about computational power and data per cycle.

If you need a mobile platform or to just use your HDTV, I'd recommend gaming notebooks. It's what I do, occasionally I play on my HDTV via HDMI. This way you can use your TV but get all the awesomeness that PC Gaming provides.

You'll have a hard time getting a xbox live gold then. You have to pay to use the online gaming service yes, it's 60$ for 1 year (on average that is), the biggest advantage IMO is a bigger screen with still decent/great graphics and the fact you don't have to upgrade after a year cuz there is better stuff out.

Well, i found some1 from London who can buy it from amazon http://www.amazon.co.uk/Xbox-LIVE-Gold- ... 724&sr=8-1 and send it to my country. I think £35 for 12 months it's not expensive.

if you really enjoy playing mw2 on the computer, just play it on that and get some other non-FPS games for the xbox if you really want it. A lot of PC players rage over the lack of what a console provides compared to computer gaming (ie far less people on map, using controller, etc.)

Buy a bigger monitor. Buy an HDTV for your computer, that's actually what I would do. Forget the 360, start shopping around for an HDTV and just connect that to your computer.

For TV you don't "NEED" 120 Hz, but it's nice and look around for one that has high refresh rate.

What is important isn't really the refresh rate, 60 hz is fine. What you want where HDTV lagged behind computer monitors is response time. Response time is how fast pixels change from color to color. You want something around 12 ms minimum. Most TVs etc are much higher around 25 ms+. To eliminate it all together, many PC Gamers still play on CRT monitors as they have the response times, 4 ms or less.

One of the reasons why fast action, fast twitch, reflex gaming does not work with HDTV is the response time. Slow response time = ghosting. Action is occurring faster than the monitor can keep up. This is why console games are usually 30 FPS, for a response time of 33ms needed, which most HDTV's can handle. (1sec/30FPS)*1000(ms) = 33ms

Wut? Many gamers still using CRT?? Maybe if you started gaming in 1998 and haven't upgraded for god knows what reason..

TN panel LCD monitors are for the most part..1 to 8 ms and 8 is pushing it..

LCD hdtv's are like 3-10 ms...And when you're reaching things like 1 to 3 ms you don't even notice a difference.
