The people standing around there dont look threatening at all though.
The bad part is that these soldiers really seem to enjoy this, watching a man crawl in the ditch saying 'yeah grab a weapon basterd, give me a reason' just looking for reasons to shoot people and laugh.
As people said before, they are soldiers, they are human, they can make mistakes.
But like any other job, your supposed to act professional, and not like some 16 year old kid playing Call of Duty laughing when killing people like that >.>
Not only are they completely unprofessional by acting like kids, 'ah kid has a wound in her belly, damn it, oh well.', they also dont even make an actual count before they start shooting.
7 or 8 individuals.. and after that they take some more guesses on how many there were.
It could be me, but if it'dd be a threatening situation, where you think the enemy has RPG's i'dd make sure i got my count right- 7 or 8 ? what if nr 9 had an RPG ?

'oh well its their fault for bringing a kid to a battle'
It wasnt a battle, it was slaughter >.>

Anyhow, people like that shoulnt be soldiers T_T

the level of ignorance here is just pathetic :palm:

then you ask why terrorists attack us.

maybe its becausewe go into their hometowns and murder them and their children, and then boast about it.

And this is like listening to a fcking xbox live conversation. these a**holes think that this is fcking COD.

and to everyone saying this is just collateral damage and is inevitable, this war was not. it could have been stopped. we have teabaggers running around protesting the money we waste on healthcare, but don't do sh*t to stop the wasteful spending that funds a**holes like these.

and to those saying that it was a mistake, better safe than sorry. what about the van? that is just straight up slaughter, no one had anyone weapons nor were they hurting anyone. they were just trying to rescue the wounded. And how do you explain the soldiers LAUGHING after they killed people?

and don't even get me started on the legality of this BS "war on terrorism".

If you're stupid enough to walk the streets of a war zone suspiciously and carry shit that can look like weapons, peering around corners with something that looks exactly like an RPG..while an armed helicopter is obviously surveying you..

You're asking for it.

What if the soldiers instead said, "Oh well that could be a camera or they could be carrying toy guns"

Then the helicopter gets RPG'd and they all die. Awesome.

War has collateral damage. It's part of a war and it never, ever changes. While we're at it let's discuss the effects of the nukes used!

I'm going to read rest of the thread later, just wanted to say that I specifically named the thread 'Army fail', and not US Army fail. I didn't want a 'US is bad' -war going on.

I know this is war, and I know mistakes can be made. But just because you are at war it does not mean you no longer carry responsibility for your actions. The incident was an unfortunate mistake, but the cover up is where the real problem is for me. (+ The soldiers laughing at killing people. That's people dying there, and the soldiers are just laughing. You can be proud of doing your job, you can be proud of serving your country, but how does that allow you to laugh at dying people?)

I like how they were so certain they had RPG's or AK-47's. Basically wanted to convince themselves that those "terrorists" were a threat, giving them a reason to shoot.

I mean seriously, you could just tell they were looking for any retarded reason to kill them.

exactly my point.

these kind of actions and these soldiers are the main reason so may people in the Middle-East hate America.

If an arab guy would've killed those people, you're all would be calling it terrorism, but when the U.S. army kills these innocent people, it's called collateral damage.

SUBJECTIVE
ADJECTIVE:

1.
1. Proceeding from or taking place in a person's mind rather than the external world: a subjective decision.
2. Particular to a given person; personal: subjective experience.

maybe you meant they are not being "objective"?

Also, wishing that American soldiers "get shot down and burned to death" does not seem objective.

it's not because they're American, it's because they're beasts.

Their nationality doesn't matter in this case, only what they did matters.

/wrong

I love how everyone says they're "trigger-happy" but I'd love to see anyone who isn't trigger-happy when they get shipped out to a warzone and face death possibly around every corner. Yeah, I don't know anyone who would wait till they're shot at first before they act. I know some will try to BS and say they wouldn't, but when it's your ass on the line, you'd definitely opt for the preemptive, because otherwise it could mean death. I'm not so sure about you, but I like living and I'll do whatever it takes to ensure it continues as long as possible.

OT: As to the first volley which killed the initial group, I could understand why the soldiers did what they did: two people of the group appeared to be carrying ARs around their shoulders, and another w/ an RPG. That coupled with having info about hostile actions in the area preceding the incident only makes a stronger case for the soldiers; the guy using the wall as cover to peer out and appeared to be holding an RPG could only be seen as an aggressive behavior in that situation and they dealt with it accordingly to perception; however, after the van it was a bit overkill: they were just trying to help the wounded, but in situations like those they don't really have time to see if that "what if" is true or not.

Everyone is basing their opinion on morals. Yes, those soldiers fucked up, and they should NEVER have kept on going. Yes, they have ruined their lives, they will never be the same again because of the war. Imagine how many people they would have had to kill to not even care anymore, and imagine what they would have been through. Everyone is putting out good arguments, but you all need to remember, war does NO good to a human being. If anyone here has been to war, and killed someone, would they kindly share what they felt afterwards ? What I'm trying to get at is that since none of us were there, or have been in situations like that, we don't, and probably never will know what soldiers think about at times like this, and how they react to these situations. For all we know, one of the helicopter pilots could have seen something like this, but in the Iraqi's favor, and watched as half his infantry was blown to bits, then things like this just become habit.

Both sides are at fault, but in this scenario, more the Americans because of the wrong acts they committed. That should never have happened.

It's clear that they learn nothing in Army, i mean from their mistakes... Like from Vietnam and stuff ...

Re: Army FAIL in Iraq

Post by heroo »

I've been to Iraq several times since the invasion and I've talked to many U.S. soldiers.

All of the soldiers I spoke were decent people, they did not like killing, but they did what they had to do to survive. Most of them liked the Iraqi people and really tried to help them. Though most of them did not agree on this war, they still served their country. These kind of soldiers are real soldiers. If they make mistakes, we really can call it collateral damage and allthough the pain for the loss of the loved ones is undiscrible, most of the Iraqi will understand it.

But these soldiers are just savages. They're heart is rotten and they seem to like to kill people. They enjoy seeing someone else suffering. It is these kind of soldiers that give the whole U.S. army a bad reputation.

And when we criticize the U.S. army, this doesn't always mean we're anti-american. I thank the U.S. for removing Saddam, i truly do. But I can not see this video without feeling anger and hate towards those soldiers. They do not deserve to serve in the U.S. army and they do not deserve to live.

War is never fair and I know that. But we must try to keep it as fair as possible, especially when you're invading a country to ''free'' it. The U.S. can not afford these kind of ''mistakes''.

These soldiers should be shot. And if I had the opportunity to do it myself, I would've done it.
