So I got the chance to play the beta and its pretty fun, besides the fact that I got owned the first two times I played. Controls are similar to the first starcraft, new looks and new features ( such as requesting for gas, minerals, but idk how to do that :> ) yet having some of the old gameplay as well. Def. going to get the game when it officially comes out, but in the meantime, everyone add your accounts so i can add it to squirts I'll post Screenies as I play, so keep checking out for more awesomeness! Discuss or post anything dealing with SC2!

I gave my beta friend key to an IRL friend and now we're 4th in our division..

It's a really, really fun game. I can't say I'm that big of a fan of playing against real people. I've always preferred AI, and I hope the new AI is as good as they make it seem.

btw, spend your minerals and gas >_> Shouldn't have that much xD

Still trying to explore my favorite units in protoss, cause i tried terrin and they suck

I skipped the practice matches but I assume after you finish them you go into 'placement matches' which will determine what league and division to put you in.

Leagues are something like

platinum, gold, silver, bronze, copper

and then a lot of divisions for each.

The game is alot different I realized after playing a few games in the Beta. I'd say a little more difficult than the original to a certain degree because of all the new stuff and characters. They need to add dragoons back

If you've ever played the original SC semi-competitively you understand why that sentence is wrong in many many ways.

yes they are, it's rumored that huge invite wave is due in a month or two after last months stress test (i.e. server reset)

Is the balance alright? Thats the biggest issue with starcraft 2. I feel like TvZ in starcraft 2 is going to be dropship galore..combine dropship and medic? I mean come on.

I don't see how sc2 will be drop ship galore. Right now the 'standard' (or metagame if you will) in TvZ is FE into roach into roach-hydra and creep tumor to the center of the map with overlords spewing to third. (unless it's scrap station but it plays out similarly, it's just the third is harder to defend cause of backstabs) Anyways, zergs have amazing mobility between bases which makes drop ship play pointless plus they're hella expensive plus reactor got nerfed so they come out slower plus if you unload the units will get picked off.

The main thing is zerg don't rely on 3 hatch muta into lurker-ling going for 4 base hive tech like SC1 where drop ship play had 4 potential targets and zerg mobility vs. terran drop ship defined a harass oriented mid game. (course, terran usually just pushed out with first vessel rather than going for drop ships)

On that note, a helion opening with drop ships mid game could yield a bunch of drone kills at an unqueened expansion if you got the multi-task to keep your helions alive from the bullshit auto-surround that needs to be removed. Plus helions rape hydras and lings so if they're not going roach heavy 6-8 helions kick ass and your factory won't go to waste.

I play in bronze/silver tiers and when I go anything vT, they almost always MMM ball =\

marine marauder medivac. Only fun shit to counter with are burrowed banelings..

collosus (sp?) also are't that bad for mmm ball but their mobility sucks, cliff vision abuse doesn't work w/ medivac air vision =\
