F*ck the Bureaucracy.

Post by Charatsandhu »

I just had the most stressful 4 hours of my life at the DMV.

- waited an hour in line.
- argued with the lazy azz attendant for a good 45 minutes because she didn't want to print up a document that she had in front of her, and made me go back home to get it.
- 30 minutes wasted getting the document from home.
- waited another 45 minutes in line and finally received permission to take the test.
- waited another 45 minutes in line with my car to take the driving test.
- while inspecting the car, the dude told me i couldn't take the test with my car because the "D" for drive was faded on where you change gears.
-spent 15 minutes cussing him out (lol) and went back home -_-

really though. just because he couldn't see the D? its between the Neutral and low gear, NO SHIT. it was the only one faded, so process of elimination states that the remaining one MUST BE D.

California's Department of Motor Vehicles can go fall in a ditch and die.

I laughed.

Go buy a neon orange sharpie and write D on the shifter. Then put a post-it-note that says "D stands for Drive. It's the bright orange one." Stick several of those all over the dash.

Next, label everything with sticky notes.. the steering wheel, seats, seatbelts, radio, AC, vents..

Do it for the lulz. Driving instructor will either laugh or tell you to F.uck off. :)

I know what you mean dude, the DMV in California sucks, it's usually an hour wait around here and the people are just assholes because they're stuck working at the DMV, even if I try to be nice to them >.>

sounds like you weren't prepared at all and were expecting an agency that is built on protocols, regulations, and guidelines to make a special exception for you...

why couldn't you just do the extremely simple, task of bringing in a piece of paper. I went to the DMV once, got lucky because it was a slow day and when you have all the paper work ready things tend to move like clockwork. They list very clearly on their website (at least in PA) what you need to have and they have the forms that YOU can print out. Its when some asshole who couldn't even bring in a piece of paper complains for 45 minutes that someone else should pick up his responsibility that things tend to get backed and something that should've take minutes turns into hours....chances are when the DMV isn't going smoothly its because tons of people like YOU are there...slowing everything down for everyone...

My last week Experience.

  • Got a ticket from the front
  • Had my Number called before I was even in the line because there was no line..
  • Filled out the application for my Permit (Yes I'm an 18 Yr old that just got his permit.. )
  • Stood in line for an awesome 2 seconds
  • Got called up and almost immediately sat down to take my test
  • Finished the test and stood in line again
  • Called up for an Eye test
  • Took my Picture and done

I had the 2 nicest workers help me out. Maybe it was MY Positive attitude that Inspired them to use theirs. They also engaged in conversation long after my business was finished until someone else needed helped.

u mad?

Granted, if there were no DMV people would lrn2drive around 10/12 like the "good ole days." (Don't you love how we "romanticize" the past. Good ole days, my ass.) Most of my friends knew how to drive before they got their permit, the "permit, license, drive for a year" is just a really neat ritual down here in the south. Though, I get the feeling you're complaining for the sake of complaining. If you want to see some real concrete libertarian arguments search my old post, it doesn't contain the exorbitant amounts of QQ present in your post.

DMV takes, on average, 10-20 minutes because I go when the line is long. If I forget a paper I move on with my life, I don't think twice about it, I might mutter under my voice "fcking bullshit red tape," but I think nothing of it. That's just me being me.

Oh, almost forgot my trollface:

BTW, bro. This is not how you spread libertarianism, anecdotal evidence only gets you so far. Try history & economics. Beat them with facts, not "this one time at band camp" nonsense you have going on in this thread.

My last year routine vehicle inspection:
1. book time from web.
2. drive to the vehicle inspection hall
3. give car keys to the pretty attendant at the counter and pay
4. drink coffee and read car magazines
5. car keys and stamped papers delivered to me
6. win

gotta love it when things go smoothly.

Well at least getting the license isn't that expensive in the US, and you can drive from your sixteenth (which is completely ridiculous btw...)

He stood there for 45 minutes arguing because he didn't bring a paper. He waited an hour in line before that. Chances are his wait time was accumulated through people like himself, all being too lazy to follow ez-mode instructions. Then they expect the DMV to fix it, and make other people wait even longer for their mistake.

driving is a privilege. if you want the right to do so follow the rules. if he is this farked up and disorganized (and ragingly mad)about getting his license, imagine how he will be when he is driving. pick his half eaten sandwich up from the floor board, talking on his cellphone, flipping off someone whom he cut off all while ramming into the back of your brand new vehicle. i mean you do live somewhat near this fellow, good luck with that.

hahaha driving.. a ...privilege?

we pay the insurance, we pay for the car, we pay for the accidents and we have to pay for new roads and shit to be built by the city through taxes..
calling him disorganized because he may have been late and put the paper on his desk to grab on the way out and missed it?
calling him fucked up because the stupid fat bitch who is government paid no matter what behind the counter is waiting to go on her cig break and couldnt even muster up the decency to press the lil print button on her screen, obviously could care less about this kid or his situation,
his car's gear strip was a little faded and he ended up not even being able to take the test because the instructor had a bad day and decided to be mr employee of the month by nit-picking things out of the manual that says "you cant take your test because of"
Im sorry, Ive had to many run-in's with the DMV and there shitty fucking government employee's to even begin to start defending them at ANY point..

FuCK the California DMV, try it once and maybe you will see why its so whack

Here's a suggestion, try a different state DMV. So far my experiences with the DMV in my city have been great. I'm sure I might have not so great experiences if maybe I went to a different one than the one in the city near here, or god forbid, forgot to bring stuff. Just because you two twits had a couple bad times with one or two specific dmv offices, doesn't mean they're all bad.

think it depends where...i wouldn't say driving or walking is a privilege in and of itself but driving or walking on public property or someone elses private property is a privilege so you should obey the rules and guidelines for that system...
