A camera?

Worth spending 500$ on one of those Semi-porfessional Digital cameras?
Suggest me some of them, cuz i want to take the photography a new whole level. (I mean, more serious).

Canon, Olympus, Kodak?
10, 15, 18 mpx?
Prices?
Help?

I've looking and i found a Canon EOS Rebel XSi around 530$ - 600$...
Any recommendations?

dad spent 2,325$ on a Nikon D300 about 2 - 3 years ago, takes awesome pictures yet stays in its case most of the time, imo just buy a decent one with good quality for a fair price don't need to act all pro xD

dslrs are cool and you can get great deals on them sometimes, but if your not going to take your photography professional somehow i think its a waste of money.

Nikon D60, D3000 or D5000 is what I recommend. I'd go for the D3000 because IIRC it has 11 auto focus points and not just three.

yeah to a point but your not gonna get as nice of a picture with a little point and shoot.

For the camera to make a big difference you already have to be quite accomplished. There's diminishing returns on the amount you pay for technology.

I would just get a solid and decently priced camera.

Well yeah, i think'd about it and i should not spent a lot of money on something i'd use for the moments, a hobby and does not get me $$.

So i'd choose something between 300$ around that...(cuz i want it to last a lot)
On any case, which brand do you recommend me?
Canon, Nikon or Olympus?

(I'd like to have a SLR one but those are more than 450$ r_r)

Some candidates are (EDIT):
-Canon PowerShot SX20 IS
-Panasonic Lumix DMC-FZ35
-Olympus SP-590 UZ(x)
-Nikon Coolpix P100(x)

As you can see, those aren't the casual camera for a family in vacations lol.

What's AVCHD Lite - 1280 x 720? (It's on Panasonic Lumix) Is a Blu-ray format?
If it is the case, 720p (on Canon) is not match for that then?
