Hello and private servers.

Post by Destruction »

Hello everyone in SRF.
Gerald's the name and I have been playing SRO since about 4/5 years ago.
I'm pretty new here, so I just want to introduce myself.

Another thing I want to note is the discussion of private servers.
I've moved onto ECSRO and I am noticing that there are posts on private servers, but none meet my question/topic.

I am aware that private servers are very hard to program and require money to keep them up and running efficiently, but seeing that ECSRO "stole" cSRO's game from a long time ago, I wonder how ECSRO is so successful and why private servers cannot be made even for the reasons above.

Welcome to SRF!

I don't really get what you're trying to ask here. CSRO is an official version and I don't think ECSRO stole anything off them, however apparently they stole SWSRO (another private server) files. ECSRO is the most successful because it's the most stable of all private servers and been around the longest time.

Most of you seem to know nothing.

1. MHTC
2. ecSRO
3. mySRO
4. sjSRO
5. swSRO

This is the order in which each Private Server was released, MHTC obtained the 1.091 cSRO Server Files as they were leaked from the company in someway. This is during times in which these Silkroad Official Versions were very old, so they would have reduced security and establishment, compared to what they have today.

MHTC disbanded, (Ocean) The Owner of ecSRO was a GM at MHTC, and had access to these files I assume and set up his own Server, people believe Ocean also runs mySRO but it is aimed more towards asian market.

sjSRO or swSRO obviously could have been related to MTHC in which they got files, Ocean again..? or they made some deal with ecSRO/mySRO.

The Server Files are not on the internet, anything that is, mostly is fake, corrupt or anything along those lines. Emulators take a long time to put together as they basically are a re-replication of the Server Files, but this time with own source code, so can be edited and customized more to what ecSRO for example have.

ecSRO did not steal anything, just PK2 Files from swSRO they have used on many occassions as their own, as they are to lazy.

files are the same, both started off 1.091, they just replaced with newer client and made few modifications to database. exactly the same.

to refine ur little blurb there, eckoro, ocean joined the dev team and stole the server's db/files as soon as he got his power. after he made ecsro then the original owner of mhtc ragequit/sold the server stuff for about $200.
