Sure it's easy to say that both having not been there and years after the fact, but I think if they really wanted to be safe they wouldn't have agreed to such conditions knowing it would cause such conflict.

I think they knew they could rely on the early UN to support them, and that's where a lot of the anger came from.

I see what you're saying, but actually, if you put it like this, it would make it impossible to not side with Israel. It's not a matter of not thinking of consequences, it's the rational (im)maturity of the governments, civilians, and radical groups in the Middle East. It shows how radicals should not be able to control governments, and interference from more developed countries must be present, and these juvenile conflicts must stop. However, looking at the roots, the problems simply started from immediate attack from Palestinians and others.

For example, a emperor Qin of China used war to unite small pieces of china land together. There were 2 campaigns started by Israel in the summer of '06. The Lebanese and the Gazan campaign.

The one that your probably thinking of was the Lebanese campaign and was done by underground organizations in Lebanon called Hezbollah. They have no affiliation (other then in words) whatsoever with Palestine, so this is a moot point.

The Gazan campaign was a war instigated by Israel to try and get rid of Hamas. Was a failure.
