I don't like school.
I don't have the willpower to TRY in school. I do the work but not super well, I'm at like an average grade. I don't know what I wanna do in life. Just playing Xbox and water polo isn't cutting it for me. I don't have the drive to try. And I don't know what to do.

Re: I don't like school.
what grade are you in? if your in 10th grade I think you should start getting like really high grades, well that's how it works in the new york schools to get into good colleges
And if you don't do good or continue bad habits, you might regret later on, like i did...

Re: I don't like school.
I dont have that drive either but I am steadily pulling up, just focus on trying to study for 30mins a day no matter what, then raise that time overtime, it does help. I usually get inspired by people that can't afford to eat or can't buy much for their children (sounds kinda mean when I say it) because thats how it will be if you don't study.

And honestly, how does learning how to do a V-T graph, solving equations with 2 variables, and writing a scene of Romeo and Juliet but writing it in slang term benefit you in life. Like, honestly who cares.

thats the problem with our education system, teachers dont tell students why they have to learn math, english, etc.
Let me tell you why: you study not because its supposed to help you learn "life skills" but just make you a smarter person. Nobody takes a TI-84 calculator to work but doing math makes you a more analytical person, for example. Memorizing formulas or facts, or solving problems, writing essays, they pretty much don't have anything to do with those so called "life skills". What they do is make you a smarter and intelligent person.
If your looking for "life skills", thats what college is for. Consider high school as a mental primer and a place where you develop study habits and become more mature and smarter. And then consider college the place where you develop professional skills that you will rely on to put a roof over your head and get something to eat.
Think of what I just wrote and maybe you'll look at school in a different light and be more motivated to try..

I think I get what your saying, Jstar1. Is what your saying is just try to learn as much as I can in high school and see life in college?

btw yeh double post but romeo & juliet helps you understand english a lot better aswell as a number of writing techniques which may or may not come in handy later in life
and math speaks for it's self do you realise how many applications math has and if you can work out certain things without the use of a computer or going to a 3rd person could save you money or time or both

Re: I don't like school.
We only need 26 credits (which can be done by 11th grade if you don't fail and you got some credits in middle school or you can go into 12th and only have to take 1-2 class's) and after that you can do whatever the hell you want.

For you after 13 years you go straight to uni
We finish at 11 but we have 2 more years of CEGEP before uni
11+2 = 13

Thanks.
Btw, I don't have the drive to edit either.
Re: I don't like school.
I'm in 10th and these are my grades
I'm lazy as hell during class and I spend most of it fooling around and talking to people.
Geometry = 89%
ALgebra 2= 92%
AP computer Science = 92%
AP US History = 92%
Frech 2 = 84%
Chemistry = 82%
English = 90%
If I actually tried I could keep a steady 94+ average.
I'm just to lazy to study and do my homework
+ dude your only a freshmen, lulz, you haave 3 more years to worry about school.

Schools pretty easy for me
Imagine yourself living in your parent's basement working at 711, works pretty well in giving you motivation.

Re: I don't like school.
I was the same way in high school.
Don't think anything changes in college. The only reason I do well now is because I have time to sit down and bother doing my work.
Think of something you can see yourself being comfortable doing and go after that.
Lots of people have no idea what to do in life, even older people who have already been through school.

Re: I don't like school.
I don't like school either, but I still work hard and get things done. Really, it's all self motivation, get some, it's not hard. Do you want to work at McDonalds for the rest of your life or some other restaurant? No, I didn't think so.
Jstar has it down right. You won't learn a lot of things that apply directly to life in high school, you have to be able to understand that it goes towards your future. You didn't immediately learn how to run, did you? No, first you crawled, then you hobbled around, then you walked, then you ran. Education builds on itself.
If you want inspiration, which I know can be hard to come by, just go down to some restaurant and look for the old, down trodden employee, they didn't try hard and look where it got them.
Trust me, you'll thank yourself when it's the end of junior year, and you kept yourself motivated all the way up to then and you have a nice GPA to put on your college applications.

I was somewhat the same in High School. Except I ditched more, didn't turn in some of the more important assignments failing most of the classes I took the first couple of years ... instead of doing the easy work for me when first presented, I took the path where my last year I had to complete (without failing one class) a lil' over 2 years worth of classes in one.
Just a tip, just do the work the best you can. In the world we live in, either you try to keep up, or get left behind. Like was said, take having a more difficult, shit life somewhat as a motivating factor in what you do. Like that saying goes: Every choice you make has a consequence to varying degrees; try living without regrets.
Don't know what you wanna do in life? Here's something you can do: Ask yourself what things interest you the most, then you can see what you can do in that specific, broad spectrum of interests in terms of a career.

"To gain that which is worth having, it may be necessary to lose everything else."
Re: I don't like school.
Using "poor downtrodden" employees of fast food restaurants isn't really a good example.
Lots of people work lots of different jobs for lots of different reasons.
If you want motivation, get out in the world yourself and see how impossible it is to get anything done without an education. Once you spend a year or so making shit money and getting crap for job prospects, you'll see why people say college is so important.

Might be a little too young to try that.
Anyways, I think I'm just gonna study more and try to finish high school with good grades and maybe go to college to play water polo or just get my GED and get a job.
