I don't think the hamster is the problem. I think it's whats going on in this kids 7th grader's head. Killing a pet companion with a hammer is not a very beautiful thing.

You really think jail is too harsh? I'll give you some information. No one cares about the hamster. She was jailed because of the psychological effects this will have on her child. This kind of parenting will lead to only one of two things: a coward or a killer.
