I was turned off by this game and just like most games, I could cared less about enchants, upgrades, customizations...etc, I want a game that has the same fluid motions or even better (B&S FTW) as silkroad when it comes to skill animation or just plain melee atks like slashing (Monster Hunter series for example) That's why Aion never really interested me, all the skill movement look slow somewhat hesitant and robotic. Cabal was the only game that achieve something of the similiar effect but it really lack in the amount of skills you could use endgame. Whatever that's my opinion, but when it come's to games gameplay really matters to me.

So after the long wait, RoM OBT is now on for our country. Roll'ed a mage on NA/EU servers before got sick of the lag/delay, thinking of giving this game another try.

Anyone can help me choose a class to start with give some starting tips, etc? btw I've always played the support role in our group so I'm thinking of a class that could support that can a bit of dps or tanking either of the 2 if possible.

The only viable combo for DPS and tanking would be Rogue/Knight. It's a pretty good pvp class. Rogue gives one of the best DPS in the game and Knight can wear plate armor for end game tanking. When you tank you'd have to switch to Knight/Rogue. You'd also have to find armor for both sides and level both classes if you want to DPS AND tank. It's alot of work if you want to do both. I'd suggest aiming for one first. Rogue is much easier to level than knight but knights are a absolutely necessary for endgame dungeons. You'd defintely be considered a valuable asset to whatever guild you join. There are plenty mages and rogues already for DPS and knights are rare in my server. Although you'd basically be worthless at pvp as a knight until you stat yourself but even then, fully statted mages will kill you faster. It all depends on your playstyle.

I'm a pure tank in my server so I play Knight/Warrior and I'm 52/30 right now. I'll level my warrior after I reach 55. Along the way I've been ganked a many times and I still do get pked and every now and then I drop something. Just a week ago I got pked and dropped 3 potential III's which is worth about 1.2 mil gold. Also, even though it's a f2p game, it's absolutely necessary to spend money if you're interested in endgame content. The mobs there will detroy you unless you are at least half statted. So far I've spent $65 and I've been playing 3 1/2 months and it is definitely worth it. I wouldn't get into this game if you don't plan on spending any money.

I'd like to to know what you mean by "You'd also have to find armor for both sides", does it mean that armor proficiencies are bound to the class that you're currently using and not shared by the secondary class? like if Knights can wear Heavy Armor and priests can only wear clothes/robes, I have to switch to "knight mode" if I wanted to wear Heavy Armor?

Know any sites for RoM similiar to WoWHead where I can get info on items, mobs, quests, etc? I heard RoM also supports addons? Have you tried using any of those?

Well Knights can equip cloth armor but that's pointless and yes Priests can't wear Plate armor so you'd have to get good plate armor if you wanna tank on Knight side too.

Don't buy diamonds until diamond fever where you can get 100% more for the price. Don't spend any diamonds without getting familiar and comfortable with the statting system. One of the first things you should buy with diamonds though is a mount. The ingame mounts last 2 hours but you'd have to go back to town every time you log back on or when 2 hours run out.

Runes of Magic is celebrating its first year anniversary this week, from March 8th to March 15th.

Daily contests will be held on the official Facebook page for Runes of Magic. There will be double experience all week for mobs and quests, and double TP for mobs only.

Other anniversary events will be run on a schedule in-game, which can be viewed in the official forums.

Still playing, been playing for about a year or so on Artemis server. Formed a new guild (Nagaplz) and got 3 level 55s now. Goob is also still playing and runs the guild with me.
