Razer Enters The World Of Console Gaming
Wednesday, 06 January 2010

Carlsbad, Calif. – Jan. 6, 2010 - Razer, the world’s leading manufacturer of high-end precision gaming and lifestyle peripherals, has announced that they have received preliminary approval from Microsoft to develop the Razer Onza™ Professional Gaming Controller for Xbox 360® and Razer is working towards approval of a licensed Razer Chimaera™ Professional Gaming Headset for Xbox 360® designed specifically for the Xbox 360 gaming console.

“Just as we did for PC gamers, we are really looking forward to revolutionizing the world of console gaming by creating a controller and gaming headset that gives console gamers the same level of quality, precision and accuracy that they know and expect in our PC products,” said Robert “Razerguy” Krakoff, president, Razer USA. “This is a great opportunity for us to continue to give gamers the competitive edge by really listening and responding to their needs.”

Razer plans to develop the Onza Professional Gaming Controller for Xbox 360 and Chimaera Professional Gaming Headset for Xbox 360 that will provide gamers with special features to enhance the Xbox 360 gaming experience. The Razer Onza will feature Razer Hyperesponse™ buttons, analog sticks with customizable tension and a programmable multi-function button (MFB). The Razer Chimaera is equipped with a 5.1 Channel Virtual Surround sound system, a Daisy-Chain cable system and a circumaural design for optimum sound quality and comfort. These releases promise to be an exciting new endeavour as Razer makes its much anticipated debut into the world of console gaming.

Prices look pretty competitive. It's about the same for a normal controller and the turtlebeach headset I bought was also about roughly equal.

I will probably pick these up.

This, I found interesting: Wired Control for Virtually Lag Free Gameplay

I don't think that it is worth the money. It just seems like shiny new controller + headset. Meg maybe some people like spending extra money in places where it isn't really needed

I like the tension control on the knobs. I hate how when you get a new one it's really stiff and eventually it gets too loose.

Ugh.

I wish I was in charge of this company. They get paid based on peoples' wild imaginations telling them that they need "hardcore professional gamer gear" to do well.

Google's new phone has been known about for a while already and is no surprise to anybody. This is something actually new.

I dont like where the back and start buttons are. In games like gears you always use the back button to check how many players are still alive.

My experience with Razer:

Razer Diamondback - Kept turning on and off after first week

Razer Deathadder - Would not work on start up. Had to turn on PC with mic unplugged, plug in mic on windows loading screen each time.

Razer Tarantula - I and ENTER keys got stuck after about a year. Would also not work on startup. Had to turn on PC with mic unplugged, plug in mic on windows loading screen each time.

Microsoft Habu (Razer technology) - Wire is loose and when used, it gets pulled out of the mouse.

No kidding.

Right now I have a MX5500 set hooked up to my PS3 and resting on my table. I just bought a Microsoft Intellimouse 3.0 (got fed up with this shit and bought proven quality) and a sidewinder x6 for my pc; they arrived yesterday.

I have not tried any Razer products but this looks pretty interesting, especially the headset (since the MS headset is pure garbage).

For PC products, I have been using Steel Series for several years now without a hitch. Check it out if you are unhappy with Razer. Their mousepads and headsets are especially awesome.

I have one of their headsets, the cheap one.

I paid like $40 for it and it's better than any other headset i've had. Really great value for price.

Fuck that overpriced piece of garbage >_>

I'm pretty careful with the way I handle my stuff since I buy them with my own money. Purchasing their products is one of the worst decisions I've ever made when it comes to buying electronics.

Razer Barracuda
-Detachable mic started having heavy static sounds after 2 months.
-Unbearable static sounds from the mic after 3 months.
-Cool LED lights started blinking after 10 months.
-LED lights just died on me after 11-12 months.
-A little more than a year later, the headset just stopped working. For no fucking reason except Razer makes shitty products.

My cousin's Razer Piranha
-LED lights are dead after 5 months. Mic has mild static noise.

(My cheap $20 headphones from Radioshack are still working perfectly fine after 2 years of service.)

tl;dr Do NOT buy Razer products.

I suppose moving to console-based products was the most logical choice for them. I've never actually used any Razer products myself because they kind of strike me as the Monster Cable® of the peripheral industry.

My Razer products are still going strong. Had my Krait for over two years now, and it's still freaking brilliant. Only issue is mu keyboard, but it's an original release with a known issue that I really CBF replacing because it only messes up every once in a blue moon.

I will buy the controller for use with my PC when it comes out. Games for Windows is lovely in that regard.

Razer has been shit for PCs and will probably always be, so I guess it's a good thing they are expanding to areas where there are a lot of gullible 13 yo l33t h4x0rs who will buy their 'performance enhancing' tools.
What a joke. I pity the fool who buys this crap 'to get an edge'. Keyboards with supposedly less response time; are you Farking kidding me?

Having knife on a shoulder button in tactical controller layout would be really useful.

wow, a lot of people have problems with the razor gaming stuff? whats the return policy like? will they replace for free if it's broken and your responsible for it. that's what i like about logitech, i broke the clips on my g15, i call them they gave me a payed shipping label and i had to send the keyboard away and get a new one in a weeks time. cost me nothing, they just went off my word that it was broken, it could be just a bit dirty and i could send it in to get a new one. dom you had 4 razor items that all broke, why would you even consider them again?
