Dual weapon better than 80 light/20 ice? Post replies

I remember Fudge's why chinese should take ice instead of light post, this is kind of like it but I'll say take another weapon as sub instead of 80 light

With 80 light you only get parry buff, mag% buff, speed and phantom.
I think having 80galvie/20 ice or 80bow/20 ice is better than 80light/20 ice because it offers a bit more for pvp.

You gain hp,15 second def, quick stun/kb with 80 galvie. Which I think is better than parry ratio because the hp you gain is more than the reduced damage you take from parry (because the hp is always there while damage depends on if it hits high or low). Pure str wont miss the mag% buff too much either and having a fast hit from galvie makes up for it also.

With 80 bow, you gain attack rating + bird buff (more attack rating or extra damage) and a fast kb. The attack rating offsets the lack of parry ratio because you hit higher more consistantly but also take a bit more damage.

With a galvie char, having 80 bow lets you hit higher with a way to use kb that's nearly guaranteed.

With a bow char, you can tank better with more hp and the 15second buff stays when you switch back to bow. Also the fast stun would be useful when opponent gets close because bow attacks take a while to load. I know you could do a fast kb, but the speed is about same but damage is better with galvie for same effect.

Blade chars would gain from either, they gain hp + high damage combo after debuff or gain attack rating with some range attacks.

You'd lose just speed/phantom but speed can be bought with pots/bard. Phantom would be more useful but no one really uses it in pvp except to run away...

It's a good idea but if I would take a 2nd wep tree I would want to max it. You don't really get a wep tree for some buffs, but for the attacks (and deal dmg with it) IMO atleast. But if I really have to choose I'd take 100 Ice.

but the 100 ice is only for phy def so it only affects pvp when fighting warrior/rogue/chinese str. Maxed phy def from ice lowers damage you take about a few thousand which is what you gain back with hp passive on galvie. Also the increased hp also increases the amount of hp healed by pots which is a bonus people don't think about. With bow, you could just cancel out the attack to recover hp, and with the higher damage, the cleric heals wont be as effective either on euros, plus the strongest str attacks all take a few seconds to do so you can pull out bow and kb to cancel it.

You might be right about maxing the second weapon, but I wanted to keep 20 ice for snow shield because int chars are pretty popular in pvp also. and 100 ice isnt going to fight them much better than having 20 ice (that is if you are using 1st snow shield and not higher)

edit: also lv 1 ice wall is nice fighting euro ints

I made a glavie/bow character already (lvl 84, FF to 80), but I chose light as the 1 element because I didn't want to sacrifice phantom or speed. I'm sure most people would rather choose fire though because it would give them more damage and magical defense. You're right though about the PVP, it's crazy fun. I would use glavie primarily but if my hp got too low I would spam knockback. The only hard part is timing all the presses because of lag; it's very easy to throw in too many neutral attacks and waste time.

Let's not forget, dash can be combined with bow to dash around and keep your distance. Honestly, a stationary bower = fail bower.
