Hey,
I'm having trouble installing Steam. During the installation I get an error saying "This system admnistrator has set policies to prevent this installation". I'm using Window Vista Home Premium.
Thing is,its my laptop. So I am the administrator. I'v tried a couple thing, like enabling everything on my account. I'v also read that I should run as Admin, but when I right click the install, there's no such thing =/
Hope you guys can help,(please no "Fck Vista or Vista is ur problem" comments, cuz that isn't helping xD )

Re: [Steam] Installation Error
You probably have to run steam itself as admin. Exit steam then start it again as admin.

Just an FYI, Vista and 7 don't seem to care if you are an administrator, some things you have to do that way.
Re: [Steam] Installation Error
you could try by activating the hidden administrator account
Run cmd.exe as administrator then type
where is says PASSWORD you can put in your own.
then log off and login via the hidden administrator. this account IS the administrator that means no more allow\disallow windows. you also have rights to everything and should be able to do everything.
Run cmd.exe as administrator then type
Code: Select all
Net user administrator PASSWORD
Net user administrator /active:yeswhere is says PASSWORD you can put in your own.
then log off and login via the hidden administrator. this account IS the administrator that means no more allow\disallow windows. you also have rights to everything and should be able to do everything.
