Massive Laggs :(

Post by WirSindPapst »

Well for 4-5weeks i got massive laggs in sro now.
Right after logging in its ok, nearly normal, but as longer I stay logged in the more annoying this laggs get.
First it's some laggs while moving through public places like town.
Then it starts to lagg everywhere about each 2 secs and for half a sec or something.
At last it ends up in massive laggs like 5-10sec freezes.
Just wanted to ask if anyone else got these problems and maybe could help me ? :(
Seems like I'm not the only one ingame, maybe I'm not the only one on this forum.
Happy for any help :)

Further Informations:
Well it can't rly be my System, it's running normal and every other game works fine, also other online games/mmorpgs
Internet connection is also quite implausible cuz as told ya before every other online game/mmorpg/download works fantastic.
I also reinstalled game once.

Well just waiting for any response, hopefully you can help me :)

yeah I get this too. I have a solution for this. First, LOWER YOUR GRAPHICS!!. To do this press ESC on the top of your keyboard and click options. Then lower down all or most of the settings. Thats it. And try to run it in Windowed Mode which is in the options to just look for it.

And yes your probably going to refer back to your topic saying its not your system but I have a no problem with other games like you but SRO so yeah.

Cuz, Silkroad Online's server machines in Korea. Europe --> Korea have too much ping. We all time playing with lag. But other online games (and fckin Knight Online) have server machines in Europe. Players no have lag. They playing like single game.. Joymax must transport their servers to eu.

could this be due to some heavy event going on at the same time in the server?

i noticed when during FW or unique kills, sometimes theres that annoying lag (where your character just stands still for couple secs, even tho you spam attacks, then you see like 20 lines of hitpoints, as if you have been fighting the whole time). sometimes this gets me killed and sometimes i find myself fighting ghosts, as the monster i fought was dead long time ago :/

Well pressing V in town does'nt work. After a while laggs come, though.
Lowering grafics isnt also the point. Tried it several times, too. :(
Any special event on the server ? Not really, i got this laggs for ~5weeks now. It started after an inspection and just didnt end up to now...
And cuz of the server-client-connection: Some ppl alrdy told me that it could be provider, but i alrdy tried another provider as i was visiting a friend about ~500km away from where i normally live...

This probably has less to do with server lag or your isp and more to do with memory leaks. The sro client on your machine is using resources, but once it is done with them, it is not letting go. This means your OS still thinks the memory is being used by SRO when it really isn't and over time, less and less memory is available for all other programs, including SRO itself -> massive lags.

BTW you can't really fix this... it's crappy programming courtesy of Joymax

sounds quite logical^^
so only thing i can do is just wait and hope they gonna fix it again ?
What about reinstalling OS // trying another OS ?
got windows7 64bit ultimate atm

EDiT: the way i understood you is that every programm /in this case for example mmorpg) should start lagging after a while when i opened sro. but it doesnt matter how long i keep a char logged in other games never start laggin'. it's only sro...

your OS cannot tell when sro is no longer using resources only the game, or its programmers would know that.
If they dont wanna put in any effort for memory mgmt JM should re-code the game to java or C# or something for garbage collection.

Offtopic but dude you have the most expensive windows version on you and you r willing to change it for this game O_O wtf???

the previous topics suggest updating drivers, trying to run with different compatibility and setting the game to single core (affinity 0).

have you tried any of those?

how much is your SRO client usage anyway? my stall char is sitting on 520~ average when its on for days (win7 64bit).

when i grind its around 600, but its stable so ... :/

well it was just a question xD
i think i wouldn't, but anyway i wanted to know^^

and @sn1kzZe
i looked serveral times now and my client usage was between 500(not rly laggin) and 800(lagging^^)
i tried everything except running sro on only one core, ima try that out now.

well what also could be important -
it's not like a real sro-lagg (char not moving, but able to move your camera),
it's more like a freeze (everything stops, also unable to move camera).

still hoping for any help ;)
would be nice.
