Just give it up and either find a different version of Silkroad to play, or better yet, subscribe to Aion Online. I left behind a full farmed level 100 Wizard/Cleric with a +6 staff and very good Light Armor gear. I never sold the account or gave it away to anyone, and I really don't care what happens to it now. It will just sit there left behind, while I have more fun on a game that *PEOPLE ACTUALLY PLAY*.

I know, shocking concept isn't it? A game where most people don't turn on a bot and go AFK 24/7 (I will admit that there are a select few that do, regardless, the problem is not nearly as rampant as Silkroad is; not even remotely close. And even then, those that do get ganked by the opposite faction on a regular basis.)

i think we need to do that but for a longer period of time and all over the net. not just on their forums but their myspace, twitter, facebook, email.

itll only work of enough people are whilling to help tho

Now this, is a more practical idea.. I'd do it. Just say when to start and I'm IN!

There aren't enough legits per server... You'd end up having bots doing this and that would be hypocritical. Anyway, you'd have to keep at it forever to make an impact, otherwise they will just start again after you leave. Also, if you're using npc thieves/hunters, you have to put up with idiots who kill them and attack you.

i dont find people botting a problem really. its hard to grind to 100 ff, extremely hard. almost all of my guild bots but i still talk to them and pvp/job with them. its their decision to bot or not.

"player bots" and legits only take up about 500 slots in each server. if you get rid of the gold bots, servers would always have space to log in. if you get rid of player bots, gold bots will take up their slots.

im a bot supporter because i have bot friends? them botting somehow makes them worse people in real life? sure id rather see sro as a 100% legit game, but that isnt going to happen and if they banned all the player bots there would be no one to play with. the only reason people cry about silkroad is because they cant get in the server. get rid of gold bots = get rid of the problem.

I didn't say that. However,
i dont find people botting a problem really.

Your comment indicates that you find no problem with people botting, which makes you a bot supporter. Why do you make a distinction between gold bots and player bots? It's the same thing with different motivations. Meh.
sure id rather see sro as a 100% legit game, but that isnt going to happen and if they banned all the player bots there would be no one to play with.

If they banned all the bots, there would be plenty of people that couldn't log in before playing. A big reason a lot of new people do not play is because of the traffic.
the only reason people cry about silkroad is because they cant get in the server. get rid of gold bots = get rid of the problem.

Although I agree with getting rid of gold bots, they are not the only source of the problem. They need to get rid of the players that cheat to get to the top as well. This is where your views and mine differ.

Joymax is already quite aware of the bot problem. They have to be aware of it, especially with all the forum posts about it here, on the official forums, youtube videos, etc. Creating bot traps, even 24/7, at all city gates of all cities in all servers won't do anything to inform Joymax of the bot problem.

However, it might at least show Joymax that there are still people in the game that do care about the situation and are doing what they feel they can do to at least put up a fight against it.

People around here are always chanting that Joymax only cares about money. Too bad we don't have an uber rich person, or group of people, who can throw tons of money at Joymax... a charitable donation say, with some requirements of some sort attached to it to help clean up the servers.

Money talks. If the main financial contributors to the game want something done, it will likely hold a lot more weight than a bunch of (perhaps) freeloading legits who are whining about the bot population.

I honestly don't understand why Joymax can't at least get rid of goldbots, since they take up half the server space (this isn't just an estimate... a while back none of the Chinese goldbots could log on and every server was at 50% of capacity or less). I understand that perhaps some players may stop buying premium if they can log in easily, but I also believe that most of the premium buyers are already addicted to the other advantages that it gives.

If the goldbots were gone and new ones continually banned, more players would be able to start again or try the game out. Because these extra players may buy silk, Joymax would in fact profit from the banning, since goldbots don't buy silk. In addition, the chars who would normally buy gold would now be more likely to spend that extra cash on silk. It would also make the game more fair in terms of what you can afford to buy, although it wouldn't stop people from being able to 'buy' magic pop items.

Perhaps I'm dead wrong, but in my opinion Joymax has more to gain than lose by banning all goldbots.

Joymax likes gold bots. They don't run them unless you are a tin foil hatter then you think they do. But TBH joymax loves gold bots. Gold bots sell premium tickets. In order to make as much money as they do without the bots the game would have to be pay to play. Joymax found out long ago that there are acceptable levels of disfunction. Well acceptable to them at least. They cater to the silk buyers. And most people who claim to play silkroad are botters so it is no surprise that they also make up the majority of silk buyers. These are often the same people running the gold and item farming bots. So gold bot player bot pretty much the same and joymax loves them all.

Somewhere along the line joymax said **** it and decided to learn to love the mud and the dirt. They are quite happy there now. Why aren't you?

I left a capped chinese char bounced a bit but am much happier where am now. I miss people but TBH they are often not gonna be around forever anyhow and always new people to meet. And in the end you sometimes re-discover old ones. For instance the WoW server I ended up on just also happened to be the home to a bunch of guys that were in one of the first guilds my guild was ever in union with even if it was only a short time way back in 2006. Take a chance. Take those with you that will go. You will be glad you did.

But my point was that even if it was easy to login, a lot/most people would continue buying the premium for its other advantages. Having 1500+ extra server slots would also encourage new players/players who had quit, and it would be much easier for legits to party. It's quite possible that the loss in premiums would be offset by new silk buyers. I know some players run goldbots for themselves, but if prices stopped being inflated, they wouldn't need all that gold.

Yes Joymax only cares about profit, but I think that their profits may actually go up with goldbots gone.

As to what you said about moving servers. I played on Alexander from when it first came out until March of this year, bounced around a bit, but now I've quit for good.

i am one of those addicted to the premium, i only buy a silver for log in, but the damage increase, defense absorption would be hard to get rid of. and the luck increase is the one i would miss the most. i cant do alchemy without a premium anymore, elixirs seem to fail +5 and +6 all the time without premium.

I don't think it would work. For example, NCSoft had faced a civil lawsuit over the issues of bots. Aka, paying clients suffering from mis-management from NCSoft. But that hasn't changed them. I predicted Aion would suffer as L2 has and it hasn't even been 6 months and people are whining about bots.

My point is, I'm starting to think the Korean mindset to game development is to create something quickly, Aion realistically took very little time to develop for a MMO, created after they were unable to complete Lineage 3. Get people to play, pay for it, then just milk it until it's completely beaten. Then create new game and beat the crap out of it. Make the most profit by having minimal game-management, make sure the game runs. Where people are exploiting, botting or buying and selling game currencies, they don't care. Cause they know when they come out with the next clone of their game model, people will rush over to that one anyways.

I don't get why Korean game companies just face the issue of botting from a game play strategy. If it's so difficult to ban bots and implement a system to prevent it, then implement game mechanics to discourage botting.

Example, why is it dumb to bot in WoW?

The spawn rate is slow. Korean games generally have fast spawn rates so you can just stay in one place, set your bot and leave. The XP gained from mobs in WoW is also low. Combined with low XP and slow spawn rate, botting in WoW will take you significantly longer to level.

Damages are higher in Korean games. Keeping it low in WoW, has made it so you can kite multiple mobs if you are smart and complete your quests faster. Using single shot or just running around aggroing and using AoE. This means a human player will always prevent any bot in that area from leveling. Bots can't compete and with slow spawn rate, even more useless. Korean games are made so you can stand and just shoot one shot, spawn is replaced immediately and do it again. This is gold for botting.

Solution, you quest. The quest rewards are numerous. The quest requirements are low, but they get people to move around. By having people move from location to location, you don't have a bunch of bots mingling in one area KSing each other all day or players for that matter. Also makes the game experience a bit more enjoyable.

Choosing between collecting 10 quests in town at a time. Each one asking me to kill 20 of some mob, gather 15 of something or talk to various people, group up to kill an Elite or mini-boss, is more enjoyable than grinding in one spot for hours anyhow.

But with the added incentive of QUEST MORON, botting is pointless! Face the problem from a game mechanics view rather than face it as a technical/software point of view.

@Wello27
Interesting idea. Increasing the number of quests as well as exp from quests would be a plus. However, one could easily code for a bot to do the quests as well.

An alternative would be to make it so players can only level and gain gold by jobbing or going to ctf.

I actually think that ISRO is already dead for legit players. I didn't log in there for quite a long while now, as it is pointless for me, if i could log in at first try in KSRO and just play there with my friends. Moreover the pts on KSRO are a lot better than the ones, which i could have on my original server Poseidon, where the legits are splitted over many guilds and nobody really knows, how to pt with full efficiency. Why should i keep trying to get in a server filled with bots, if there are other servers, where this problem simply doesn't even exist.

I don't play KSRO simply because (aside from having no time) KSRO is for Koreans. Last I remember, you need to have a Korean ID number or whatever it's called, similar to a SSN in the USA, to register an account there. Unless things have changed... I'm not really into creating fake IDs or stealing someone else's ID just to play a game.

Maybe it's not that way anymore?

They don't have bots, no traffic, they always get the updates first (They're already on 105 cap and we are on 100) and they have test servers.

They don't have bots, no traffic, they always get the updates first (They're already on 105 cap and we are on 100) and they have test servers.

I'm pretty sure they have bots, otherwise they wouldn't have 105 cap. Anyway, why can't isro be more like that then? Ksro makes money too.
