Um no. I had more fun playing Rs and it was less of a frustration ...
Actually i still log on every 2-3 months.

And i never said new games with cool gfx were better than the older ones.
Actually give me a Gameboy color and some random stupid game and i would probably play it for 2 minutes. But if you give me Pokoemon Gold i would still enjoy playing it.
If its newer date game it doesn't mean its are just for show. I played quite a few and they have hours of fun gameplay.

Of course they're separate, but the company still has to managed to do both no matter what. What I was trying to say is many of the games now, from what I've seen, are going graphic heavy. By that I mean they're trying their best to make you 'wow' at the graphics over gameplay. Of course there has been numerous games that done both amazingly well such as Metal Gear Solid 4, but then there are games that put graphics over gameplay such as Grand Theft Auto 4. I won't lie that GTA4 is a good game, but compared to the previous games.. they really did went down in gameplay. Graphics went up, gameplay went down.

Of course they're separate, but the company still has to managed to do both no matter what. What I was trying to say is many of the games now, from what I've seen, are going graphic heavy. i can name really nice looking games with good story and gameplay and i can point out there was a lot more games out on old consoles as it was cheaper to make go look at the first et game that was terrible

but a key thing some of you are missing in these arguments is story a good game has to have all 3, i felt crysis had good gameplay but its story seriously sucked and because of that the route it takes you though the game is sub standard

I must admit ... i enjoyed Crysis because i liked how the environment looked. I was simply amazed with the details. The story in other hand was ok, like any shooter.
Since i am not that much of a FPS's expert i can't say much about that.
Not the best game i ever played but still ...

Still Halo 1 was a hell a lot more enjoyable to play than Crysis.

Yes, these games would be much more enjoyable with better graphics, but they do not have said graphics, and yet, are still thoroughly enjoyable. However thats not the discussion at hand.

Graphics are used more as a marketing tool as ever, and the gameplay suffers a bit. But we still get good, original games like LBP, Skate series, Mirror's Edge, Wii games and the guitar hero games. Just some titles that use new elements in gameplay.

And it's not just the graphics that improve, but so do the physics and all that. Soon all the ingame trees will have their leaves swinging in the wind individually, actual layers of sand to race over instead of just a flat texture, hundreds of 3d moving supporters in Pro Evo 2014, and all that.

And great graphcis are very enjoyable nevertheless, you can't deny it adds alot to a game. While never being able to replace gameplay, ofcourse. Older gen gaming still has a big place in my heart, but since I got my PS3 I havn't looked back. Just my 2 cents etc.

also the fact there have been 5 main guitar hero games since 2005, then a handful of sub guitar hero games such as metalica and ontop of that rock band right now its far from original far far far from original

but i keep saying this story is a key part and it should be seperate from gameplay as for me it like this
graphics - visuals what you see
gameplay - the mechanics, ai, functions
story - what takes you from a to b (most games have a story of some sort fps reply on it though)

i suppose you can bring in setting (maps) and other things but the 3 i mentioned are the key ones and there have been a lot of interesting games that only flaw is the way they come together because of the story

People keep acting like good graphics are the reason many new gen games suck..It's not like there's some equilibrium point between graphics quality and game play. That being said, isn't game play based on opinion and not fact anyway..?

I really don't agree with needing a great PC to run Crysis or anything alike. 'Good' computers have always been in the 1000~2000 price range, and with that amount of money you can get a PC that can play any game on max. Crysis may seem poorly optimized because it runs slowly on someones PC but when did everyone stop noticing how amazing the game really looks? Compared to other games running on max it seems that it's sufficiently optimized.

The visual look is not the main important thing, but it is still important ?
Why the hell would game mags and game review sites rate all the elements of the game ... Yeah all graphic,sound,camera, movement,controls,animations, environment,story originality, settings ... etc

A game is like ... school
To be a good student you need good grades right ? Some have bad ones,some are the best while there is people who exceed in one particular subject.
Its the same shit with games really.
Some games will be remembered for their visual looks, some for awesome music or great storyline or maybe a game with an unique combat system or something different.

But i am with the stupid bullshit about "Old school games rule, they don't make games like they use too..." Yeah right, you people sound like those old people on TV series complaining about todays youth ...

See my whole point is ... Yes there is some older games who are freaking awesome, but not every effing game from the 90 is "legendary".
Out of 100 older games 5 were maybe really worth it.
But all you people do is compare new games with some old cool games.
You can't make all games amazing or make the better in every department.
The thing is people still make average games,nothing can be perfect.

It doesn't matter how old the game is.The only thing that matters is the quality.

I enjoy the graphical improvements alot. It enhances games. I agree alot of games start to rely on graphics, but certainly not every single one of them and I'm still enjoying my games like I did back in the day.

This engine is nice, probaly wont get many games made with it though :/, thank god though my pc will be able to run this, I just upgraded completely! woot woot, i do enjoy the lighting, the physx are typical. I'll prefer to the game made with this on pc, cuz im gonna allow such graphx go to waste
