Kids Prograaming Language (KPL)

www.kidsprogramminglanguage.com

also a simple language, its nowhere close to a dynamic language but it's able to draw and do calculations and amybe a lil bit more so don;t expect to make an OS with it but it's still good for kids ^_^

Teach your kids at a young age that all they will ever be able to do right is Using a computer! Make way for the next generation of un-employed people, when everybody's M$ certified, only a few get jobs! All this M$ certification is BS, we need less people in IT, and more people in real jobs, like manual labor, specialty things. Computer is not specialty, everybody can use a computer.

not a bad I idea, but the campaign feels like something from McDonald´s O__o?
I think there'll turn out to be a lot of bullcrap about this from the people that don't know how to use computers, and think it's the source of all evil =.='

Operating a computer and being able to use the software on a computer is basic, but not many people know how to develop, design, or program any bit of software. Shit even the kids down at the geek squad are dumbasses, they're not much smarter. So please don't state how well ppl are at a computer when I bet you dont even know how to program, or build hardware components from scrath or know electrical terms or such. Being able to teach a programming language to a child can help in a lot of areas. First of all computer understanding, english, math, and typing. Basic skills needed in the 21st century for college so I don't see how this could be a mistake. Now I say teach it young because no sane 13+ year kids is going to want to learning this nerdy shit, thats why I learned it young, but no one at school knows I'm good at computers lol

What about my so so wrong? Honestly, the IT field is outsourcing itself, we don't need as many people going into it. Where have all the welders gone? Pipefitters, boiler makers? Things like that are always needed, and as the population increases, we need more and more of those people to create building frames, set up watermains, electrical lines, hell even WELDED METAL chairs to hold up IT professional's asses. I'm not saying they're all fat, but I've been to my Moms' office, and most of the women there were highly overweight, I felt bad for the chairs.

You sir are an idiot. There is still plenty of people going into the labor force, just cause it's not happening around you dosen't mean it isn't happening.
Also, most people graduating with a good IT degree are sought after by companies and organizations and are landed with quite a good job, even in our global depression, so microsofts new initiative will have some benefits for the new generation...so how about you take your head out your arse and smell the fresh air.

IT is the fastest growing job market and as long as we use computers they will be needed. They're the plumbers, pipe fitters, and boiler makers of the entire electronic industry. There is a reason why there are so many. As for not enough of the other guys, just open your yellow pages or visit a tech school. You'll find plenty, the reason they can make the money they do is because their industry isn't flooded, its not one that can support a ton of competition and still give its workers a decent living.

I doubt the kinds of kids who really want to program would be interested in this kind of junk though. I can't see cuor messing around with it if he had actually programing tools to mess around with, same goes for alot of my friends who started programming early. Its like giving your kid a small chapter book when if they're interested in reading they should be reading novels.

your only hearing the bad news about IT and computer science. Only low level programming jobs are actually being shipped off to india and those pure programming jobs actually have a negative decline in the US.

Maybe I am, my mom has been moved through 3 different accounting firms over the last 12 years, why? Because why pay One person $50 an hour when you can just hire 2 pee on's that get the same amount of work done for $20 an hour (each)? The whole point is that Companies would rather have more lower pay people than experts with higher pay. Companies cycle through employees so quickly, it really hard to advance in the field unless you are extremely specialized, and literally ONE OF A KIND. IDK why I'm trying to drive my point home, continue flooding your minds with computers=best choice, it just makes it easier for me in the future to find more jobs, and have more opportunity. I'm done in this thread, theres not anybody else here who wants to know anything outside of computers.

I've worked in construction/carpentry for 4 years and I'm in my third year of a Computer Science degree. I'm very "blue-collar-educated" (I made that word up), I can rebuild an engine.. build a house.. weld a fence.. do plumbing.. electrical work.. etc, AND I LOVE computers/programming/etc.

So your last sentence doesn't apply.

yes you definitely are. And your taking one example (your mom's) and generalizing it into the whole industry. Amazing logic right? This isn't the case for the majority of people. Like I said, if you decide to build a career purely on programming, your screwed, but isn't true for other related careers.

Holy S*** a teacher from my computer science course showed me a video from this the other day....It made me rage on whole new levels(in my head of course). It's a bunch of kids trying to act out how programming languages work and it is just so annoying. It's obvious these kids have no idea what they're saying(they're only 7-9 years old) and yet Microsoft thinks it teaches with these? Damn. I would rather my 4 textbooks, thanks.

Everyone can use a computer to an extent. Some are more proficient at it than others. Everyone can push the power button, wait for a few minutes, and double click the big blue E to go on the Internet.

Not everyone can install an OS from scratch, download and install Eclipse, set up the C/C++ perspective, install plugins for OpenEmbedded, network the system to a Gumstix board, configure ssh for remote access, and then develop software to run on the Gumstix and remote debug that software.

As for kids and programming, I see nothing wrong with teaching them at a young age, as long as they learn other things too, like playing outside. If they're going to learn to program, or use a computer in general, it shouldn't be restricted to Microsoft technology, although that can certainly be part of it. I learned to program in 4th grade myself, and even had a little introduction to it in Logo a few years before that.
