I certainly think so too that the CoD series went downhill overall, but this game has really been anticipated by many people and now it will fail even more regarding competitive means than CoD:WaW did.

The fact that there are no dedicated servers really doesn't matter as long as you aren't a modder or a person who prefers modded servers. iwnet will actually make it easier for casuals to get in a game.

I'm not really a fan of ded server on the pc since some games get like 16 people and others have 3. With the 360 style match-ups people are going to get matched faster and games are going to be more balanced.

No worse than that, it will use P2P, so it's like an ad hoc game.

Basically one person is locally hosting the game so they will need a large amount of upload speed plus a very good ping to all other connecting players. It's unstable, slow and gets rid of the server browser (a feature in basically every MP PC game out there)

You won't be able to mod servers or games, they will all be vanilla.

Plus it will severely limit competitive playing and clan matches.

It's a console way of doing things.

I say probaly about week 2 or week 3 the lovely fans of call of duty will create a mod or porgram to allow the CoDMP client to connect to servers. Some one could make a main server and then have all of the hosted ones connect to it so all of the clients can view them just like how the old CoD games were. I need mah modded servers like custom maps and modded guns and modded sounds and everything! thats why i fell in luv with CoD

You guys do realise that you can still do clan matches right? You can make a private match and disable airstrikes and choppers and predator missiles then invite your team and the opposing team.

I played socom 2 - 3 on the ps2, and a bit on the ps3.. trust me it's better like this. You will lag alot less.

socom always had sony's dedicated servers, MW2 will only have a matchmaking server that connects people together then 1 of them will be host. That is how the consoles have been doing it.

I think it's dumb that some kid with a pentium 4, 512mb and a 6600gt will probably be the host of most matches even if he gets 5 fps.
