Look.
The video showed us many things. That right there rules out any "blind" judgment. Now lets go over the beloved "changes" L4D 2 offers:
- AI Director "2.0"
The latest version of scamming people into thinking there is anything more to it than randomly generating paths for the players to take, and throwing in handfuls of enemies when things die down. Outstanding.
- New Campaign
Okay. So instead of just adding campaigns to L4D 1, we went and decided you can have them all in a fantastic new $50 package! The neutered and title-exclusive online community comes as a complimentary addition. You wanted a dark hollywood style zombie experience? Well f*ck you! Here's sunlit New Orleans instead. Enjoy the clowns!
- New Weapons
Hey, lets just tack on some more stuff that could have just been DLC for the original game! Melee weapons? You got it! Now you can plow through crowds of zombies like never before! Are you having fun yet? You bet you are, you paid for the new game!
- New Enemies
Of course a new setting needs new enemies right? We definitely need some other reason to get people to buy this mod with a retail price tag. Lets take some crappy ideas suggested by the community and butcher them, they'll like that for sure. Oh, and be sure to re-skin and change a couple of the horde zombies so they fit.
- New Characters
Great, now we have even more cultured one-liners to listen to. At least they covered their asses by adding another black character. It's just too bad that the only thing they offer to the gameplay is their silly stereotypical comments. They might as well be anyone, right?
Holy cow I can't wait to shove my money down Valve's throats, this is brilliant!
Did you all bother to notice that there are NO changes to gameplay whatsoever? The only things that even come close are the addition of melee weapons and whatever minor tweaks they made to the
man behind the curtain we know as the AI Director. Which is just a fancy term for "level and enemy randomization" in case you haven't figured it out yet. They have to make playing the same 15 levels over and over again interesting somehow. And speaking of levels, why does that have to be in a new game? I don't know they just released a new campaign for L4D 1. Seems a bit odd that they decided this batch was worth its own new price tag.
The only differences between both games are the sights and sounds. Everything listed as "New" is just a goddamn replacement to make you think it's new.
I have seen independent developers who make NOTHING from their efforts churn out more quality than this. Take the FH mod for BF1942 and BF2 for example:
http://forgottenhope.warumdarum.de/main ... sh&module=Those mods make the FH devs no money, yet Valve believes you should pay them for the same amount of content. You people are just showing them that they were right to believe you would pay them for it, too. No Farking wonder Call of Duty is going down the shitter, the same thing is happening with them.
You guys will be paying for a mod. Skins, levels and weapons, nothing more.
And again with the QQ comments. Nobody is crying over this.
You bitch at us for saying it's not worth the money,
we give you reasons, and then you insist it's just WE who are the ones causing bullshit. And for god's sake it's just a game, people. Why the hell do you care about our reasons for saying it's a shitty game?
L4D2 is not worth my money, end of story.
If you want to throw
your money at the next new paint job, then that's your choice. I'll wait for something that's actually worthwhile. RO: Heroes of Stalingrad looks like a great choice so far.
