Religion
Re: Religion
I've actually considered the merits of following the beliefs surrounding the Force.
All the morals with none of the boredom.

Now I never understood this. How can you be born a Catholic, or a Christian, or a Hindu, or any other religion? You can be born into a Christian/Catholic/whatever family, but I don't see how you yourself (any human) would be born with a certain religion. Isn't the whole point of religion to believe in a higher being (or 10)?
If you're born Catholic, wouldn't that imply that you are born believing in God as the creator of this universe, the Saviour of our sins, etc? Seems to me this belief would come later in life, maybe as a child, teenager, or adult. So is it the belief in God that makes you a Catholic (or Christian, etc), or is it just because you are in a Catholic family that you are Catholic? Is it automatic until you one day reject God?
For me, I'm Christian, but I'm not too religious. I have the basic beliefs, raised in a Baptist church, but haven't gone in 15+ years.
some people aren't trully sure what that " higher " being is, that's why they don't go as religious as others. There isn't a definite fact that a real person is behind whatever miracle happens nor they can trully cling to the facts their specific religion offers. Basically an agnostic atheists counter part, agnostic theist.
OnT: I'm not even sure, I suppose Agnostic atheist as well. I live In california, where there's a mixture of religions everywhere which I honestly and truslly respect each and everyone of them (whomever I meet I mean). I've met my fair shares and they were kind enough to explain things to me and share things, so I don't really go against any religions only those who would shove it down my throat and say otherwise other religions are at fault.

Re: Religion
I'm an apathetic agnostic (Which means: the view that there is no proof of either the existence or nonexistence of any deity, but since any deity that may exist appears unconcerned for the universe or the welfare of its inhabitants, the question is largely academic). I used to be protestant and I still celebrate Christmas. A lot of my friends are actually agnostic too but we have people from all religions. Jewish is pretty high too since our school has a high population of Jewish people attending.
I'm not very religious and are sometimes disgusted by what some people do for their religion. Well just the extremists, but still.
I believe more in aliens coming to Earth than an existing god since ancient depictions of some gods (from Mayans and some other civilizations) look like astronauts if look you know what to look for. With some civilizations, their gods walked amongst them before leaving. Where did they leave to? They never came back did they?
Well I'm slowly turning this into an alien thread too, so I better stop. I hope you guys get my point though.

If God is the cycle of Creation and Destruction that needs no meaning or purpose for it answers to no one...
If Law is the rule and principles which all things in this reality are bound to, the true sciences that cannot be denied...
If Soul is the being shaped by God and Law that can become an individual...
If all these things are understood to be true then you understand my beliefs. I am God, Law, and Soul.

Re: Religion
I'm not religious. My family, not the immediate one, are catholic / christian...so I grew up with all that around me. My mom's not really religious, neither was my father until a few years back...
like my bro said, I really don't follow one thing. I pull things from a number of religions to try to be a "better" person.

Re: Religion
Christian/Catholic all through school/high school. Didn't like it, don't like some of the teachings. I guess I'm Atheist. I like the Book of Revelations though and all that apocalyptic shit. For some reason I don't believe in heaven but a hell. Maybe because hell interests me so much, not that I'm satanic >_>
Nothing in life has led me to believe there is any kind of higher being. Sometimes I wonder if "religion" is even real or something made up to give people hope.
I guess in my view:
Be a good person in life and you won't go to hell.

Re: Religion
Raised as a Catholic and slowly deviated from the religion. Now I'm an atheist.
I might just put that shit on quote. Gave me an early morning laugh. Sounds like a pretty good proposal, but then I'd be obliged to feel bad about killing another human being, in a justified situation of course.

But since I've moved to the West, i've met a lot of other views on life. As I learned more and more, my believe in the Islam was tested.
I can say I've passed that test, because even now, with all the scientific knowledge I have obtained since I moved to Holland, I still believe in Allah and the Islam.

Myself, Christian. I don't go to church anymore as my former church adopted some.. new-age.. ways of doing things / thinking.
I believe in the bible, as a history book, a way to live our lives and a way to know our creator better.

ofc if you are a good person, you'd be rewarded; ppl around will respect you, ppl will help you back when you need help and god will secretly help you...

Why would God only secretly help you? Is he embarassed to help you publicly? Since your post implies that God will only help you if you're a good person, and all of the bad people won't get any help from God. So he helps good people secretly so the bad people aren't aware of this help? I thought God was supposed to be a kind, loving deity, loving everyone equally, even if they don't love him back... Seems a bit selfish of him to not provide this help to certain people just because he thinks they are bad, or because those people don't believe in his existence.

if I am under no religion, how is it that I ought to be doing the right thing? I mean what restrains an atheist from becoming a serial killer? If there is no book/religion you believe in, what would prohibit you from murdering a guy in a 3rd world somewhere in Africa? No one would know.
My point is, if there is no "wrong", how is there a "right" thing to do?
one who is mature(spiritually) doesnt need to be told what is wrong or right. religion is only needed for the immature(spiritually). just like in america there is a law that no one that is physically immature may drink alcohol, but when you reach that physical maturity, you may. this is a physical example of a spiritual principle that needs to be understood, but isnt.

^^Thanks Thomas42
