Really bad idea. What exactly would be the point of doing so? It's not going to make them go away, and it'll just get super annoying for people trying to make a post about.. e.g. a new way to kill characters-who-kill-monsters-all-day-long-for-money-to-sell-to characters-who-train-without-being-controlled-by-real-people.

I don't understand why the members of a legit forum have a problem with banning the discussion of bots and third party programs.

blocking the word will not stop srf getting filled of closet botters, and they wont stop botting cuz of it!

Bad idea tbh.. what should be done is temp-banning the people who start the accusations which starts the flamewars.

like for example.. Sav.

There was no need to post such a comment, and I really feel he needs a timeout for it. He started it, and it ended by Rek having to lock the topic.
There's more ofc.. that's just one example.

That would help a lot more I think.

That was a dumb ban. Helios is less than 2 months old, do they really think that the guy was hand powerlvled by a char that was also hand lvled to 6x or whatever?

This is about the word "bot" and about how it affects the forum. The only members affected are the ones that accuses other members of botting.

Just a hint yeah: if you're a closet botter, you should support banning this word from the forum.

EB section was supposed to stop bot accusations from happening in GD. The problem isn't that it didn't do its job, but much like Joymax, the regulators that should be weren't there or aren't enough. If the ultimate reason for the complaint (and suggestion) for not using the word, stems from members not wanting to read the constant flame wars (sparked from a simple accusation) then let there be more mods.

Please just urgh
think before you open such a stupid suggestion up for public discussion

It's a good idea, but I would rather people with obviously indirect bot submissions via 1 million sp or other forms of craziness get auto banned. But that's just my opinion. BACK TO WESNOTH!

just a hint, the biggest closet botter supported the banning of all bots, they are the ones who accused more than anyone. all they had to do to stay in the closet was keep the attentio off of their botting and get everyone focused on everyone else.

the only people who wouldnt support this are people who WANT this forum to go futher down the tubes. just like the aforementioned biggest closet botters who went through great lengths to get people banned here, and guess what, they just so happened to have a forum themselves, with paying advertisements. sounds a touch fishy to me. much like you with your "everyones a bot if they have this opinion," mentality you got going on.

Your argument does not justify why censorship should be used. Just because one closet botter acted in that way does not necessarily mean everyone who opposes censorship is a bot themselves. There is nothing wrong with maintaining a hostile environment for bots, as long as the accuser justifies their reasoning. The accused can then reply with their response and so on. It is how forums work.

i support the censorship, because those who CLAIM to be legit are ruining the forum by turning every single Farking thread into a fuckfest of retardery. there is a problem on both ends of the spectrum, they fixed one end with EB, now the other needs fixed.

And it only applies if you censor the word Bot. But without doing it, enforcing the rule would be nigh impossible.

This idea is even worse than the Zero tolerance sticky in GD.
Let some of the idiots in GD handle their own stupid posts. But when that happens, You, as moderators, take the proper actions when topics get derailed or suffering the same shit (accusations, etc, and etc) everyday.
