100 FF Bower, turning Blader?

Post by Puma60 »

I currently have a 100 Pach/Fire/Ice and was thinking of turning Blader, and just wanted some input before going ahead with it.

So I was talking to a friend who has a 100 FF Blader char, and a 100 FF Bower char with 90+7 Sun Pop Bow, and he was selling the Sun Bow char because he preferred his Blader, so yeah that got me thinking.

I've seen a lot of questions about Blader Vs. Bower, and quite frankly, they're both very good, but when it comes to a Blader with FULL ice? It pwns. HARD. At least, imo. With a bower, I think the extra defense is beneficial for someone who chooses that build and the snow shield and phy. def but would like to have some godly crits. At the end of the day, it all comes down to your style.

Have you ever tried a blader? If so, how was it? If you liked it, I would say go for it.

If it's a good friend ask him if you can try out his blader, see if you like it. If not my advise is to stay bow. Mostly because it takes about 1.8k silk to remove lvl 100 Pacheon with almost all skills maxed (except black/lighting hawk and autumn series). Yes I've looked into it and if it was less silk I might have changed but now I'll stick to it. Bow works great for me ^^

Besides, removing that (what I said) wont give you enough sp to max Bicheon so unless you have more sp you won't be able to max it >.< Also for me I'd also have to remove Force cuz a Force Blader is kinda useless IMO :P

If you can, definitely ask your friend to try out his char for a couple hours. A blader and bower have two totally different playing styles and a blader might not match your own. It'd be a big gamble to switch over from 100ff bower to blader. I switched over from blader to bower at lvl 70. I took a leap into the unknown and I never looked back. At such a high lvl I'd advise against you doing that. Try before you buy. :)

you will miss the awesome bow crits alot

but all in all blader is more fun, more moves, more defence, less attack power (but debuffs)

you will enjoy blader alot till you have to lvl up with it again at the next cap

I switched my blader to bowman, though I'm lvl85 gap 9, lol. Actually, most of my guild's bicheon switched to pacheon. Gotta love cap 100's double kb <3

Youseff Blader is more fun which is the most important thing, and your Blader was low level. It's better when it's higher level ^^ Also Blader can tank like crazzzzzy.

Blader is more fun than Bower IMO, it's just not worth it removing a lvl 100 tree IMO. Unless you got ALOT to spend on silk.

I don't play SRO anymore, but I have a blader character that started out as a dual wep blader/bower because I was undecided which one I enjoyed more. I decided to go with blader because of the high defense. Really fun in group wars/job wars when you can tank everyone without worrying about dying.

I decided to go Force because from prior experience pvping bladers, I found that their damage output was too little to kill me and their defense was too high to be severely damaged. Since I didn't raise my ice, I concentrated on raising my gear's phys defense as much as I could and essentially overcome not having ice by having good (non-sun) gear. Even so, I raised my cold to 20 for Snow Shield for extra physical/magical defense and to overcome my low mag defense from having level 80 Fire. Also, having Force meant I had high MP (from the passive) so Snow Shield seemed like the right thing to do. Since I had 80 fire, I used my Force debuffs to raise my damage output and lower my enemy's attacks. No light skills either so I raised the parry on my gear, but more importantly, I made my own parry irrelevant by constantly using my "Vital Spot- Muscle" skill to decrease my opponent's parry and therefore making my own parry a non-issue. Having a blade with a good crit and phys damage was also one of my goals so I was pretty excited when my crit went from 4 -> 13 in around 4 challenge stones. The crits with debuffs are sweet.

My only gripe was the short range of attacks, so I had to chase around a lot of hunters/traders while jobbing. The Sword Dance Series can really pack a punch if used correctly so that helped with fleeing enemies.

Blader ftw... Bow is good too, but if you wanna tank and got alot of money to spend on gear/prem/devil, then you will be a man among boys in pvp. I only got one question tho, would ice increase this tanking ability? or is fire more useful for magic defense? im thinking 100fire/100bich/80light/20cold?

Having a higher Parry Ratio than your opponent will lessen the chances that they do higher damage on you. For example, if your parry is 500 and mine is 450 the damage I deal on you will be lower than the max I can actually deal (it's more of a chance thing but the effects are highly noticeable). Attack Rating will determine how high or low in your weapon's attack range you will hit depending on how high or low your opponent's attack rating is. For example, if I have a higher attack rating than you and my weapon's attack range is 2500-3000, I will increase my probability of attacking closer to the 3000 range. Even so, if your parry is higher, I won't exactly reach that higher damage end of the spectrum. By constantly lowering an opponents Parry (and attack rating) I can ensure not getting hit by higher damage but also attacking them with my max damage regardless of their own parry/ar. Parry Ratio is for added defense and Attack Rating is for added damage.

since cold is a def tree yea it would help, more than people would think. and since there are massive amounts of bowers and warriors now a days it will definitely come in handy. on my blader (when i used to play) i was lvl 78 with npc gear and +3 blade and sheild but i was a fire cold blader and was able to kill people with +5 sets around my lvl. even took on some warrior clerics with sos weps.

I guess I'm an idiot for failing to see how lowering their parry increases your def. Their parry has nothing to do with your def, it's about the ar lol. I think it's the other way around >.<

I'm with moshe on this one.
Afaik your parry/attck rating has nothing to do with your opponent's.
That's the theory I've always heard and it makes perfect sense.
I could be wrong but unless someone else backs up that theory I'll stick with the one that makes more sense to me.

No, it doesn't increase your defense in the sense that you'll get lower damage from everyone. It will lower your probability of being hit with high damage from any one attack, hence the name Parry Ratio (Parry = to counter). AR will just make you hit for big numbers, hence the name Attack Rating. You don't have to take my word for it though lol. A simple experiment with gear of varying parry levels can bring you to a more solid conclusion.

Then again, I haven't played SRO in a while so my knowledge is a little rusty. 8)

It's not much of a theory as it is searching Google for "Parry Ratio Silkroad" and "Attack Rating Silkroad" to find an answer or conducting your own experiment. Image
