Ok, I assume you understand why allowing the sale of virtual items in an mmo (like silkroad) would damage the game, because the second part of your question assumes so.

Now this question has been debated black and blue over and over again in GD. What it boils down to is simple, you choose to not mess up the game further then you can stay and promote it here, if you choose to not give a damn then leave this forum.

And even so, if you go deeper you'll find out that the cause of Silkroad's current state is greed. People can't be satisfied. They want more, more than everybody else has. First it started out with a few bots, which turned into large amounts of botters. But it still wasn't enough, people wanted even more, so the gold bots had to be born.

You mean greed as in the greed of selling virtual items that you do not own? Joymax owns your 10D SoSUN+15 staff. Joymax owns your Sun+9 headpiece. Joymax owns your entire character. Joymax owns the entire game.

So people get greedy and start botting. People get greedy and start a fleet of 30+ gold bots. People get greedy and start selling the accounts that they botted (or hand grinded). People get greedy and sell the sun drops they get. Stuff that the player does not own... All for real cash. Greedy I'd say!
