I'm going to the Air Force, but I'm a bit 6 pounds over there limit so I need to work out. Why is it taking so long for you to leave, you in DEP?

ya currently in the DEP program ( by request ) , Im actually looking to start basic training as an E-1 instead of coming out of RTC as an E-1 , that way when I go into A-School , im a little above rank , so right now im going to DEP meetings / meet ups with my recruiter very often, taking military courses and what not.. slowly getting into shape , I have my mile time down to 7 minutes but after the first mile my pace jumps up to around 9 1/2 minutes (still working on that , aswell as regular sit-ups and pushups , hikes ..proper eating , so slowly working my way into the transition from a civilian to a sailor in all aspects..
have you ever been to Great Lakes Illinois in the winter?!( the only NAVY RTC in the United States) hahaha NO THANKS!! :p

I talked to the marines , the air force and the army..took AFQT tests for all 3 , scored pretty high, the navy was the first to call me back so :D

dang man that's pretty good, I will be going in as an E-3 because I have college credits. I'm still unsure on whether to sign up for 4 years, or 6 years, but I plan on making the Military as a career. I can run one mile in 9 minutes. The other requirements are pretty easy. I haven't officially signed up yet, but I will soon once I lose the weight, and plus I'm in no rush really. Right now, I've been going to the gym daily, and I'm trying to memorize the Airman's creed, and the chain of command before I get into boot camp. That's good to see someone else joining the Military on SRF. lol I was going to join the Army.. but I had second thoughts about it. Marines never called me, so it was either the navy or the Air Force. My final choice was Air Force because my friend is gonna try to join with me lol. Did you go to MEPS processing station yet?

haven't gone to MEPS because I am studying for the ASVAB thru my a small community college side course right now, I wish I would have started atleast my Associates degree before going in, but I chose to live in the mountains for 2 years after highscool ( which I dont regret because it gave me a terrific life experience )..but I could of potentially went in as an E-3 for a better pay-rank ..but things didnt work out so well with that..so for now just taking a small ASVAB training course because there is so much material to learn that it can be extremely overwhelming to do by yourself..taking it 1 subject at a time..from arithmetic reasoning..to physics..and auto-shop ( I don't know shit about tools & cars really..sucks cause its going to bring my overall down :( , and the ASVAB is the most important thing to me because like you , I am also making a career out of the military.. officer training school and all, just turned 20, and feel the military is the right place for my type of personality ..(work well in a structured environment )
so thats kinda where im at right now, they say Ill get 3 college credits just for finishing RTC though , and I do plan to go to a 4 year before officer training school ( which is required anyways)

were basically in the same boat..Im memorizing the important wars the navy played a huge influence in..- memorize the eleven general orders of a sentry,
- memorize the US Navy rank structure, etc. etc.

also glad to see an upcoming airmen on the forums!

Autoshop.. I don't know a thing about that as well, and it's gonna burn me in the asvab. I want to get a high enough score to be able to choose a nice job. I turn 20 in January. I don't know about the navy, but in the Air Force, if you sign up for 6 years, you get the E-3 rank right after basic.
