When fighting a Glaiver or Spear Nuker, the skills I am most concerned about are the Soul Departs series and Ghost Spear, because those actually do something to me that I cannot always defend against (Stun + Knock back.) Windless Spear (and Death Bringer Spear for those 98+) isn't going to do any thing to me through Holy Spell, Dull won't ever happen, its just extra damage at that point and nothing more. Bowers, however, I have a LOT of trouble facing them due to the instant knockback on their part (even if its just 5 arrow combo only), and a lot of their skills have a real high chance for a critical.
The point I'm trying to get at is, what kills me most of the time are hard hitting single hits that do insane amounts of damage (such as Warrior's Dare Devil skill) rather than a bunch of small damage multiple hits such as chains.
