Sooo..I kinda want a nice camera, specifically one that takes good, clear close-ups. Can someone suggest any that aren't crazy expensive? Or maybe cheapest and still good? >.>

I've been trying to do some research but some camera names are confusing, with numbers and types, lenses etc.

Like macro shots? Almost every camera out there can do macro shots, so price doesn't really matter if you're not too picky with the quality.

Unless you're talking about the zoom capabilities...

Really happy with my phone's camera.

It doesn't have high MP or anything like that but auto-focus makes a huge difference.

Basically, if you resize the photo to that size it will look good from any camera. Do the post-work from PS like contrast and depth and such

I have a camera and it sucks in all forms. An old old Olympus. So I'd still need a new one. Don't want to make my images too small just to make them look good either. I don't think that's the answer I'm looking for, but ty >.>

most cameras should be able to do that kind of closeup photo shots. Anything thats a lot closer to the object you might need a higher end one.

I think any camera with 8-12 megapixel should be enough or more than enough as long as your only interested in casual photography. This basically means that you could get almost any camera on the market right now. I'm thinking $200 to $300 for one. I don't think you should spend anymore than that

I said, if your just looking to get a camera for fun, casual photography, etc. it doesn't matter what you get. Cameras are all of similar quality at the casual level...so go to best buy or online and browse through the cameras that you like the most and pick one that has some nice stats on it. Why are you asking us to pick something that we can't even use lol

Can't use? I saw a few posts of photos people have taken plus I know alot of you are smart when it comes to this kinda thing so I figured you guys would know exactly whats best, judging from the example pics I posted. My Olympus I have is an old $300 pos =/ I don't want to make the same mistake again, that's all. Thanks for the help though.

Get a decent one. Actually, for a 8mpx or 10mpx are around 200$ - 300$ so its big deal.

Even my cellphone has mroe mpxl than your camera lol

IMO if I were you I'd go directly to best buy (or whatever electronics store u have at your place) and touch and check out the camera yourself. Nothing beats hands-on and it makes sure you know what your getting.

Whatever you do, dont get an exilim. They just scream "drop me!" and have the most uncomfortable buttons ever. Its a camera for looks and has very little practical use.

sigh.... megapixels dont matter. seriously you can get great prints out of an 3MP camera.
read this http://www.kenrockwell.com/tech/mpmyth.htm pixels only matter when you need a blow-up of something like 5 by 7 feet or more. just get a good brand like nikon or canon, after all they are the best makers of DSLR's and normal compact cameras.
you might want to save up a bit and get the cheapest SLR by nikon or canon, and the kit lens is good enough for what you want. The image quality of a SLR is so much better

I wanted to say that but lacked some backup info. You can't see much of a difference between 5mpxls and 10mpxls.
