(Warrior): Keeping aggro in parties
Hello all,
I've been playing Taiwan Silkroad for some time now and I've made an 1h warrior to tank in parties. Although I find it pretty hard to keep aggro on me when the monsters are at the group; luring isn't that hard. My taunt skill has a pretty long cooldown so I'm pretty farked.
What is the best way of keeping aggro at low-levels as an 1h warrior?
Thanks,
William.D

Re: (Warrior): Keeping aggro in parties
Just buff the cleric with aggro warr buff, use a lot of taunt and if you see that someones in trouble use KB and sprint.
Theres not much you can do for the aggro. You need a good cleric so the wizards can tank them until they are dead.

I lack skills - the aggro fence and such are all on higher level - when it becomes easier. Same as the AoE taunt at level 60 (Shout). Mainly I'm asking advices because I have a lack of skills atm.

Re: (Warrior): Keeping aggro in parties
u use vital increase? it gives %300 aggro.
Re: (Warrior): Keeping aggro in parties
Try hiting the mobs arround you with quick attacks such as slash... Don't stick to one mob until he dies. Instead hit all of them if u can cause your attacks also increase the aggro. That + Vital and shouts should be enough.

Re: (Warrior): Keeping aggro in parties
yeah attack mobs... not for damage but for the aggro increase on skills
warriors who taunt+stand 4 seconds+repeat wont work...
also if you have it, aoe attacks hits multiple mobs so taunt from 1 aoe is multipled
don't kb/kd since you'll lose aggro if you arent near mob

Re: (Warrior): Keeping aggro in parties
Its not really clear to me what your problem is but at your lv vital + taunt + weapon skill should just do the trick. Use a high lv weapon because it increases your aggro.
Anyway If you try to get aggro from mobs with a taunt those with the circle appearing above their head are being aggroed, so try to avoid hitting those with weapon skills and first go for the un-aggroed ones. Also your cleric should resort to mainly healing cycle to keep you alive, because it doesnt aggro.
If you are luring and tank your own lure I have some other tips:
1 Try to aggro all mobs before you arrive with your lure, so use quick weapon skills on the mobs that aint getting aggroed with taunt.
2 Make sure taunt isnt on cooldown when you arrive with your mobs. That way you have a little buffer.
3 The cleric shouldnt use to heavy aggro heals when you just arrive with your lure
4 Make sure the mobs arent walking 'slow' but fast after you, if they walk slow they will aggro the cleric immediately after 1 heal.
5 Might you lose aggro from a mob tell your wizards they should move/ run ( not far away cause then you cant help them). They should run so you can taunt the mobs but the wizardss / cleric will have to stay within taunt range. At lower lvs I noticed its almost impossible to taunt a mob if a wizard just stand and keeps nuking the mob.
6 Never run after a mob that escapes from your group like a madman. Because there is a high chance you will loose aggro of the rest. Instead do what I told you at point 5.
7 Pay special attentiion to party mobs, normal mobs died so fast it isnt really worth taunting them.
Anyway at higher lv it will be much easier with high lv fences/qouta + howling shout.

Thanks, pretty good information. And yes, it sucks at low-levels. Also some clerics follow me when I'm luring and start healing me already.. it sucks so badly. But I think I'll get through some levels with this.

Tell them to use healing cycle, it doesnt aggro.

+1 but you get sprint assault at mlvl 30 I guess
1h lacks of AoE skills except for shield trash... I think it'd help your pt mates.
Just buff (I think you only have pain quota at 2x) them to give them the chance to live enough then move near them and use shield trash.
Keep an eye on them and their hp bars, if they're being attacked just go immediately there and again, use shield trash, taunt target.
And someone said Vital Increase increases your aggro... I don't like that skill but a lot of warriors told me it's the best way to attract mobs.
And at 30 you'll get sprint assault. I've used it a lot to lure and to help my pt mates.
Physical Fence lvl 1 too I guess (this + pain quota will give your pt mates more chances to survive).
When you reach lvl 60 you'll have Howling Shout... I LOVE THAT SKILL!
I've set SRO to show me the hp/mp bars over the head of my pt mates. It's really useful.
Hope it helps and btw, I walk in the opposite way of most of the warriors so wait til more ppl reply to your post (you can try it anyway).
I'm lazy.

Shield trash should only be used in extreme cases since distance = loose aggro. Sure u can ST and taunt right after but thats just a waste of taunt that could be used to aggro more mobs.

I'm guessing you don't like that skill because it lowers your attack. And what part of 300% aggro increase don't you understand? It also increases you HP so yeah it's pretty usefull.

I'm asking what the best way is to keep aggro on low-levels..
quota is lvl 20, phy. fence is lvl 30
these are your two most important skills
your attack skills have taunt and aggro attributes, read them and use them to help keeping aggro
of course you have your taunting skill, and yes it has a long cooldown which sort of makes things more interesting by forcing you to play more tactically than if you could just spam it away. (i'm constantly amazed at the high quality of the design of this game, mechanics-wise)
the shield trash skill helps managing aggro also, crowd control + defense + offense ftw.
are you 1H?
cezzy wrote:u use vital increase? it gives %300 aggro.
lol fantastic, i didnt know that
it helps understanding how a warrior keeps aggro through simple attack skills (which carry their inherent aggro and taunt bonuses as well)

you use shield trash when for example... 6 pt mobs are around a wiz. you use taunt target to attract mobs. i don't use shield trash because i've shield crush... do you know any other way to get 6+ mobs off of a wiz? so please, don't talk

I guess you're the one who doesn't understand... do you like to walk with one leg less? be blind? well, Vital Increase it's just to say "ok, I'm a baby now"... you lose physical attack for... 3k of hp? LOL'd

Where do you people play?!? I never come across any functional parties, nevermind ones where the warriors really think about how to keep aggro
. Only decent parties I've been in (as in good xp gain) were full wizard ones ~level 85.

@ Doomsday
Warriors are tankers not damage dealers so physical attack isn't important and the wizards probably keep pming you because of the lack of tanks

Re: (Warrior): Keeping aggro in parties
@Doomsday
First of all, if you let 6 mobs get to your wiz then your party isn't killing fast enough or you're not keeping the aggro very well (Vital would fix that
)
I'm not telling you to use vital so you can get more hp... That skill gives you 300% more aggro and you don't even need to deal damage since your the warrior. Learn your role in a party! All you need to do is keep the mobs arround you... Let the wiz deal the damage.
I'm not telling you how to play. I'm just telling the best way of "Keeping aggro in parties", and your way clearly isn't the best.

Re: (Warrior): Keeping aggro in parties
dual axes help on keeping mobs because of its massive aoe.
though your 1h and well pretty much what you have to do to hold the mobs is try to attack all the mobs. so example do like 4 attacks on the first mob then change to a mob that you have not attacked for awhile. if one happens to run away just sprint assault and taunt that rest of the mobs and that should keep things going.
