Re: Motivation.
I dont know how old you are (that would make a difference in how I would approach this), but I'll assume that you are in high school.
I think the best motivation is to think about yourself (your pride) and your parents. If you continue to live the way you do, everyone knows how you'll end up
- the stereotypical burger flipper. If ending up in life having to life paycheck to paycheck, fat, a virgin, with a dead end job, I dont know what could be more embarassing. It would make me pretty motivated to prevent myself from ending up like that. And, if you really cared about your parents, you'd be motivated as well. Imagine the shame your parents will feel if you wind up a loser
they'd feel terrible. I can't imagine having to live with the guilt of making my parents sad for the rest of their lives realizing they raised an idiot.
Basically, if you're not motivated to do what you're supposed to do, you could end up living a very, very sorry life, and thinking of that should be enough to motivate you at least enough to study

Re: Motivation.
Well if you don't like it you can start fixing it and the only one who can do that is you.
Like me, I hate fat people and I was building a too big 'layer of resistance' for the winter for my liking so I lost weight.
Last year I was getting really lazy in school too and then I started doing more for it, another problem solved!
Just like me for my problems, you already know what you need to do to fix yours.

Re: Motivation.
I've been kind of having the same problem with doing my Math. I'm home schooled so I put it off all day long until it's like 7pm and I'm like oh crap I didn't get anything done today. FML. This leads me to getting "depressed" and it's a vicious cycle that just keeps repeating it's self until I DO SOMETHING ABOUT IT!. Then everything works out and you/I are a happy camper.
tl;dr. Go do something about it! Idle hands breed all sorts of trouble.

I had that problem few years ago, you know what helped? Simply, make yourself unable to do your habbits. (After getting up from bed - checking computer etc...)
I made myself put computer in house storage, because he was main source of my problems (same as yours).
Fortunately, we have 2 computers, so the other one I used ONLY for school or contacting someone when it was needed.
I didnt feel like playing anything on my brother's computer, because I wasnt used to it.
I started to be more outgoing (spent more time outside, than in house), made lots of new friends - and whats most importmant,
I felt much better in my skin.
Yes, it was hard at begining, but with strong will, its doable. I took back computer from storage after few months, and
I didnt have need to spend that much time on it.I might consider doing this again, wouldnt hurt...

Re: Motivation.
Like Nitro 'n woutR were getting into; you're the one holding yourself back.
I used to be the same, especially with school. After awhile, I looked at myself and asked what the **** I was doing ... the way I got out of it, I stopped doing things that were leading me away from my goals...
Instead of going home or out with friends for lunch, I just went to the library to finish all my work, because I never really could do homework with so many distractions around, especially at home...

Re: Motivation.
Ok, this'll be kinda harsh... whenever you feel that laziness, imagine yourself as a 40-year-old unemployed fat pile of virgin fail that lives in his parents' basement. I actually lost about 20 pounds of weight (6kg is ~20 pounds, right?) with this method over the summer.
Also, this pic could help. (mildly disturbing)

Re: Motivation.
Biggest thing that helped me was moving off to college. Before that whenever I noticed myself getting into lazy "slumps" I would find another hobby that involved actually getting off my ass. That was several years ago.. I've beaten my laziness now.
Take a few pictures of yourself and see how unhealthy you look and go do something about it? That's a harsh way to put it but that's what I had to do a year ago when I started getting out of shape.
It's all up to you.

You know whats the great trick I've heared to reduce your eating?
During the lunch, you get a phone call, get up from table, and start talking for 5 minutes.
After you get back, you will lose your appetite. (I can say its true from experience).

Re: Motivation.
I've had the same problem.
Sometimes i'll be on the computer. I know i need to do something, but i'll keep thinking "meh.. i'll do it later".
My way of fixing it, is by either doing something straight away, dont delay anything.
Or things which i do often, i fit into a bit of a schedule. Eg. i've just started making myself go running every other day between 4-5pm, (its one of those things that i find myself really reluctant to do).

thnx to both of you. That makes a lot of sense. But I was wondering, would like putting away my computer be running away from my problems or fighting the urge?
You wont beat it sitting next to it and trying not to start a game.
It helped me and I started to be occupied with other things (friends, going out, girlfriend).
When you get back from "rehab", you wont have the urge to do what your habits now are.

You know, I have the same problem. But I don't really need to change anything about my lifestyle, sure I'm extremely lazy but that doesn't get in the way of my education or hobbies.

Dude all i have to do is look at your sig, and something inside suddenly gets motivated. Seriously though people, its not hard to do something. You get up and do it, need motivation? Smoke weed, get laid, DO SOMETHING YOU LIKE! It really isn't hard, Pornograghy is always a good place to motivate yourself...
BTW Sharp - Where you get that pic from?...
Lol, he thinks he's good, but when it boils down to it he just hasn't got the minerals.

Re: Motivation.
I was in the same boat. And i took it to the extreme. I quit showing up to school, quit my job. I basically lived on the computer. Then my mom kicked me out of the house so i went to college. Found alot of motivation at the bottom of bud light bottles. Graduated college and started falling into the same slump and couldnt find a job so i joined the NAVY. Im still not very motivated but i get shit done. And its helped my life alot. Im not saying join the military or anything, but try asking your parents to help, ask for responsibility around the house. Ask your friends to get on a workout plan with you. Running outside instead of a treadmil is a great idea. You will spend more time not being lazy, you get fresh air and you might even meet people. I love going running 5 miles every other day with my shipmates. Good luck and you know where the pm button is if you need any more advise.

Re: Motivation.
I just lost my job because I didn't do good enough on the procedures of the place I worked, and also because I have a tendance to do NOTHING, or rather said, not the thing that I'm supposed to do, and because of my odd habbit of searching the line that says ENOUGH on people, thus pissing people off. I've done that with my managers, thus getting fired.
And that was the "burger flipping" job, at McD's, my main income for my stuff as I pay for all my stuff myself even at my 17 years of age, as a preparation for later.
(Lucky for me I've got till december to find something new, as my contract can't be ended untill then, but I go back to the minimum minimum of my pays, and I only get to work 4 hours a week as that's my contract hours.
And then another thing, I'm also about to lose my studie, as the same thing with my job. Pissing teachers off, not doing what I'm supposed to do and lack of paying attention.
I saw this all too late, so I will loose it all.
Even though I'm trying to mend what I broke with my studies, for my work it is too late already, even though I loved flipping burgers, and went to work with a smile on my face and went home with a smile on my face.
I haven't told my parents I got fired yet, don't know if I will tell them or that I will just find an other job and bloom it by telling them it's time for me to move on, away from McD's and get some working experience. It is indeed time, and I see that now, but everything was just too late.
So yeah, my motivation would be the people I work with and go to school with, just to stay with them. Especially for my school as this is a special studie for me, and I feel like I have to prove myself.
Because for the 4 years before I started this studies, I had to do nothing to get what I wanted. My intelligence was enough to amaze people at times, but when I look at the others I have to keep up with them.
My motivation is my dream of the job, wife, kids, LIFE that I want.
