Answered Warlock / Cleric questions!

Post by Murtaghs »

Hey all,

Im thinking about making a new character, most likely a Warlock/Cleric.
There are a few things I'd like to know for sure first:

- Warlocks use DoTs like Burn, Poison, Bleed. < How is the damage of the DoTs?
Answer: These are damage over time attacks. Damage isnt high per hit. But the total dmg is good.

- Warlocks use DoTs like Burn, Poison, Bleed. < Isnt leveling VERY slow, if you have to wait till the mob dies?
Answer: When grinding; (without zerk) put 2 dots on a mob and run to the next mob and put 2 dots on that mob and run to the next one etc, etc. With zerk just 1 dot per mob. The mob will get killed while you run for the next one.

- If you're killing mobs, as a Warlock, are you using your DoTs to kill the mob, or 'baby nukes' too?
Answer: IMO just DoT's for general mobs and champions. Pt's and Giant's should be debuffed and finished with DoT's and baby nukes.

- Is a Warlock/Cleric good in PvP? (Ofcourse, on Youtube everybody owns), but what do you guys think? If you PvPed with a Warlock/Cleric plz say how it turned out..
Answer: I'm building a lock/cleric atm. And yes warlock/cleric is a good build in pvp, but we're still waiting for the holy spell reduce.

- And is it true that with the next cap new Stones are coming, with resistance to the debuffs? Edit: and with 'Stones' I mean the alchemy stones, which you can use on Rings etc.
Answer:
1. Roc needs to drop it
2. You need to get the necessary elements
3. Putting in the accessory doesn't fail
4. It gives ou more than 1-5% resist
5. Repeat with every accessory until you got at least 50% for immunity with reduced holy spell (if it gets reduced)
6. Repeat with every important status effect
7. Fix possible assimilations

There won't be a problem for a very good time after the stones come in

Thanks for the Answers on these questions guys! I've edited my post, all the questions are now answered, in case someone else was wondering the same thing...

I've read Fug_Dup's guide already, which was really useful, but these were the things I didnt know yet...

So I hope you guys can answer these questions, and help me decide whether to go Warlock or not...

How can you survive if you put your DoTs on a mob and then go to the next one, Warlock/Cleric is full int (or hybrid int) so you die fast, right?

And is it true that with the next cap new Stones are coming, with resistance to the debuffs? Edit: and with 'Stones' I mean the alchemy stones, which you can use on Rings etc.

^There is no need for surviving, as most mobs move as fast as a player in armor, or slightly faster. The point is, they won't catch up most of the time.

As for the stones:
1. Roc needs to drop it
2. You need to get the necessary elements
3. Putting in the accessory doesn't fail

Tl;dr won't be a problem for a very good time after the stones come in

I'll explain, I leveled a Warlock/Cleric to 85, by pure partying and soloing, so... (I didnt bother reading what other said, so if I repeat something, dont mind).

  • 1. You have 4 types of Dots, the ones that give burn, poison, bleed and dull. You have AoE versions of them, and single target version of them. In my opinion, soloing is boring, but if you want to solo fast, you will need all 4 types of single target dots, so you can spam it faster. I highly advise taking all 4 AoE dots (You can stack dots easily - 2 single targets, then target foe near mob you singletarget-dottedtwice, put AoE dot on him etc etc... I stacked 7 dots on a single mob once, which is rapage) and only 2 single target (bleed and dull ofcourse). Damage is not that big, but it adds up, dot hits 6 times (as I recall)... Usually its enough to put 2 dots on mob, and he will die.
  • 2. You cast the dot on mob, and you start running toward next one. If you want solo like this, a pickup pet is a MUST. I perfer party much bigger time.
  • 3. While in party, you should try stacking dots as much as possible, because that will make zerk come really fast for all party members. So dont bother nuking (unless there is party giant). You can throw in division (without precasting of diesese), because using Vampire Touch takes too much time, so just risk with division - put it on only party mobs.
When party giant spawns, start killing him like you are pvping him 1v1.
Vampire Touch (so you put diesese - so debuffs success ALWAYS) -> bleed & dull dot -> trap -> sleep -> debuffs (division is amust) -> nuke -> *cleric rod, offering* -> group recovery -> *warlock rod, recast debuffs* and maintain till he dies.
  • 4. At level 85 I could kill capped blader without him touching me.
Holy Word doesnt disable you that much as people say, but you still will have HUGE problems against Warrior/Cleric & Rogue/Cleric... Chineses are just a joke, easiest to PvP.
Recepie for killing full Int chinese (which kills ALWAYS 100%, unless they have pills to disable sleep) is --> Vampire Touch (for diesese, if it fails, use its AoE version) -> Trap -> Sleep -> *wait 2-3 seconds* -> switch to Cleric rod -> Glut Healing -> Over Healing -> Glut Healing.

This will kill an full int 100%, no exception, its ALL apsolute damage.

No, you wont die fast, because you have shield + recovery division, and throw in healing cycle if its fuss, and just run around and dot mobs, I find it boring and slow, I perfer party grind. Yeah its true about stones, but I dont think it will disable Warlock that much.

P.S. if you are making Warlock as your main character, dont do it, I didnt like it as main one.

Damage of DoTs is quite low but tehy inflict Burn, Poison and Bleed wich deal more damage

Well you can have more than one mob at the same time

Both

Warlock/Ceric is great, it has better defense than wiz and it is able to kill quite easy, but ofc you have many skills so you must have fast fingers to use skill bar(s) ^_^
