I wouldn't be bothered by that. I would be bothered if I had to kill a certain mob for days in a row to gain a level or enough sp for skills.

no one really knows. NA/EU release gets v1.5 which was until recently still in beta testing in korea. supposedly the quests give more exp and we get 500 more quests in v1.5.

expect a grind though.

Aion looks awesome but I don't want to shovel out the money for the collectors edition (or if it's to late for that, the regular edition) in case it ends up blowing -_-

Can anyone give me a summary of this game with a small pro/con list? I've been trying to follow every aion topic that popped up but I've lost track. Please don't say "its just like WoW!!" because I've never played.

Few Q's which can probably be answered by searching but that'll take forever:

Is there just one version for NA/EU or separate for each continent?
What's the fee per month? Does buying the game get you some months free or..?
What's the level cap? Do you think there will be lots of end cap content or is the game like SRO?

1. Well NCWenst hosts the NA and Eu servers, there are also KAion (Korean), CAion (Chinese) and JAion (Japanese)

3. 50 - You can reach it in 3-4 weeks if you no-life and about 2 months if you play normally and pvp in the mid lv's. It was a rumor they would add 55 cap, but i don't think it will happen soon.

Pros
- Run by NCSoft
NCSoft is pretty good at balancing classes and providing interesting content. Expansions will most likely be free.
- It looks good
- Potentially epic fortress battles and rifting
- Alot of endgame content
- Many instanced dungeons can only be done after xxx amount of hours so you don't have to worry about the world feeling empty

Cons
- Run by NCSoft
NCSoft has a bad track record when it comes to banning bots.
- Some players may not like the fact that you can be killed by other players while leveling and that the pkers suffer little to no penalty for doing so.
- Level is a big deal
Good luck taking down someone who is only 2 or 3 levels higher than you.
- Spellcasting voices suck

The only thing I can disagree with in Darealest's post is the level thing. The ONLY time level is a big deal, is if you're fighting someone that has a level in which he gets skills, but you're not high enough level to get your skills.

I.E, a level 10 vs a level 13.
but a level 10 vs a 12 is fair, in almost all cases.

This is what you can find on most Aion forums.

NA/EU Closed beta #6 is next weekend, august 14th to 17th.
After that they are going to wipe all servers and start open beta. (date unknown)
After open beta comes another server wipe and pre-order headstart begins on 09/20/2009.
The official release date for NA is 09/22/2009 and for EU 09/25/2009.

I got to play for the first time last weekend and made it to lvl19 so fast leveling in the beginning at least.
I heard 25+ is when the big grinding starts, but version 1.5 is supposed to change that.
I also noticed Keanu 'The One' Reeves is in game disguised as Archon Legionary.

There are EU servers in the beta events.
As to playing on US servers with a EU server account, the available info is confusing but they say there are no more IP blocks. You can try changing the regional settings in your launcher to US and when the event opens this Friday, see if you can connect to the US servers. If you've applied a EU key though, you may be restricted to EU servers only.

NCSoft may have a bad record of banning bots, but I truely do believe that they will not let this game have as many as the others. Why? I'm sure they know if there are bots roaming in the game they won't have people playing and if people won't play they just wasted a huge investment. They won't let this game get ruined and the other games that do have bots well if you look.. they don't care about it anymore or it was B2P and it's cheap. They don't get a constant source of income from one and the other does. Those that are still P2P I doubt they have enough users to even give a shit about.

Level makes that much of a deal? Damn.. And PK.. suffer nothing.. hmm.. makes it challenging then unless the other person is higher level then it'd just suck.
