should i ignore this bird?
this is this tiny bird in front of my window. i think it is hurt because it is not even standing on its feet, but its stomach instead. it has been siting there for a while, i even petted it a few times
should i interfere with wild life? this tiny bird maybe a meal to a crow or something

Re: should i ignore this bird?
Probably shouldn't touch it. If you're really interested, maybe look up info on the internet - see what species it is and what it eats. You probably know little to nothing about wildlife though. My suggestion would be to just leave it alone and see what happens. Nothing you can really do if its hurt.

Kirk a BB gun won't blow the shit out of a bird. It shoots tiny plastic balls.

Or metal bawls, or mini darts, or pellets.

Re: should i ignore this bird?
I remember when i found a small injured bird outside and decided to take care of it. It couldn't fly so we put it on a ledge inside a box and used to feed it bread and water. It was pretty fun..i used to see the parents come visit the bird as well. Then one day the bird tried to fly and landed on the ground and my dog killed it
..i was actually pretty sad cos i got so attached to it. Fun experience nonetheless.

Re: should i ignore this bird?
To all the people shouting avian flu:
A bird that's infected with a avian flu strain generally doesn't pose any threat to humans. Only rarely the virus mutates that it can infect humans as well.
Rabies is a mammalian disease. A bird isn't a mammal, thus rabies isn't something to worry about.
And knowing SARS only been detected in 8000 (a bit more) people since 2003, the odds of getting SARS is highly unlikely.
Nonetheless birds can carry diseases, thus I suggest washing your hands carefully and thoroughly.

Yes, cuz rabid birds are really common. Flying down out of the sky, foaming at the beak and tearing peoples eyes out because the disease is driving them mad and telling them "bite... bite!"

Re: should i ignore this bird?
A couple of weeks back there was a bird in my house. It got scared so it flew away super fast, but it crashed into the window, going knock out on the floor afterwards.
I thought the bird would be dead for sure but it was still breathing so I washed my hands and wrapped toilet paper around him (I heard they're nasty so I took precautions) and just put him outside. He was also chilling on his stomach instead of his feet. So what I did was I took some small wooden stick and carefully lifted him up from under his stomach, then he stood up on his feet. A minute later he was flying again, crapping over my trampoline. Ungrateful prick
But these birds are damn resilient, he went really hard into the glass and made a 6ft fall down like a stone to the ground and in 5 minutes he's up and crapping again.

Re: should i ignore this bird?
You'll probably will find a few wildlife forums on the net, if you want to help him. Catch and put him in a shoe box or something similar, put him somewhere warm, I am not sure about bread as most birds are different, but find out what species he is and see what they like to eat.
He'll probably die if you just leave him outside, or get eaten by a cat or dog. But at least if you brought him inside, he might have a fighting chance of survival.
