Forgot the parking break in an automatic and had a wide right turn. You have to get over 70% on your driving test in Ontario, which I was well over considering my mistakes were minor and only caused me to lose 2 points total.

Hehe, my first lesson was like: introduction. He drove like 300 feet and then we switched seats haha. I live outside of town so we were on a backroad pretty fast ;) xD

If you drive manual, don't worry about stalling. Even the best drivers have it sometimes. I stall our car too sometimes, because I don't give enough gas when I release the clutch.

Most if not all people with a driver licence can drive with a manual in Belgium for the simple fact that:

a: most cars here aren't automatic.
B: if you pass you're driving test while riding in an automatic, the licence is only for an automatic.

The first few weeks with a manual are hard, but you'll get it in the end.

He took me to some quiet backroads where I learnt to start, stop, change gears and how to turn in junctions. It was a manual, as are 95% of the cars here. I came across everything from horses to tractors that took up two thirds of the road. All the other drivers where courteous and pulled over to let me go, looking back I think maybe they were scared that I would smash into them lol. Next lesson I'll be moving onto roundabouts. The weirdest thing was when I go about 30 mph, it feels like im going like 50 mph. Thank God the instructer had a Brake and Clutch pedal on his side of the car.

Just dont be too scared, have some confidence in yourself.
When you get used to changing gears and everything it will become second nature to you, well for most people it does. :P
Just a tip, dont try being a smart ass after you get your license and dont show off your "uber" driving skills as some retards do, you will end up flipped somewhere on the side of the road with an airbag up your face(if you are lucky enough).

I live in Ontario. G1 was a multiple choice test (I got 100%), G2 was a driving test. I took driver's ed. which lowers your insurance rates and allows you to get your G2 4 months earlier. That was 4 days of theory with a test at the end of every day. Then there was the 10 hours of lessons with a mock G2 test on the last lesson to pass the driving portion.

you should never be pressured to speed when someone tailgates you. If they are rude enough to honk, slow down and piss them off even more

Yeah I didn't, my instructor was always pushing me to drive a bit faster though, cuz 60 for me might be 57 for others and then they sometimes tend to take over you etc bleh.

If some1's on your tail, just drive even slower, or slightttly press the break, so they see your breaking lights go on and get scared :)

The first lessons are usually on huge parking places where rarely somebody comes by so you can get use to the car it self. That's how I started off. Just stay cool, don't blame yourself to much if you make a mistake. Your teacher will point out if you made mistake and what you should do is to try not to repeat the mistake again.

As for the automatic/manual shifting, I prefer manual. From what people told me automatics are a little difficult when it comes to stopping. :p

I remember the first time I went onto the highway, a big pickup truck (construction) blocked me into the lane and wouldn't let me merge onto the highway.

They shouldn't make students drive with the stupid giant sign that says "COME FUCK WITH ME, I"M NEW" on the roof.

I was tailgated so much because of that damn sign. My instructor called in 6 agressive drivers to the OPP in my 5 lessons.

Chances are.. if your getting tailgaited, your driving too slow (not always i know.. but 90% of the time). People who drive too slow are often the reason for crashes, as so many people get road rage and end up doing something stupid.

Summary: Dont drive too slow.

Only time I'll slow down if someone's on my ass is if we're in town or the neighborhood.

Otherwise I try to give them breathing room. Sometimes they keep on following you though, some people can't drive without a person right ahead of them. 15+ over and they still sit on your ass? Give them some brake treatment.

Well it's not about that. It more like the way faster/stronger breaks. A few, who've been driving a manual before an automatic had problems because they kept hitting the front glass with their head (not literally), because of the difference with the brakes. It might be really easier if you start off with an automatic from the beginning, but switching to it is hard in the beginning.

Are you serious? Whoever said they are driving too slow? The people who tailgate will tailgate you because they get road rage. I'll be driving at the speed limit and they'll tailgate me because I'm not going 5 mph over the speed limit, which is stupid because thats still breaking the law

You're one of those drivers...

I don't tailgate, but you might as well be driving a 5 foot wide bike.
