If she wants to be competitive so be it, I still don't see how spending money equates to having no life or being oblivious to real life, I see no connection. That's like saying spending thousands on your wardrobe means you have "no life" but buying tons of wal-mart clothes is "fine". Their priority's are just different, that's all.

Half the people on this forum don't even play the game anymore, and they still post things about/from the game.

Hi Sai.

There was someone named Sai that had some E-Crush for Itonami that we banned, correct? So many randoms had their self banned in EB; it gets hard to keep track of them all.

Competition in gaming always seemed to me to be a measure up of your reflexes, cleverness & strategery. its good to have competitive spirit , but in silkroad this notion of competition is something of an illusion, or a misnomer as it relate to gaming. To me It is more similar to the real life competitions like who can afford the nicest clothes or the hottest car. Sure there is appeal in that form of competition, but it is more a superficial thing than what I believe to be in the spirit of a true gamer. ahaha sorry i hope this make some sense

Not all hobbies are created equal. A person collects valuable coins at worst tends to loose very little value when markets change. Just some accts canceled here or there ie death. Now if your friend were a legitimate player(they aren't) then the money invested in SRO is gone when they stop playing SRO or when joymax shuts it down. And it will happen some day soon. And when it happens you will get exactly 0% back. Now I know your friend is not legit an possibly has bought and sold accts so yes technically there is a way on the black market to recover some of what you spend. But never more. Nah what she has done is basically sit in front of a slot machine and fritter away every cent they put in because even if you win you loose with magic pop. So why is it ok to say that people addicted to slot machines need help or interventions and your friend does not. Don't you think people who are addicted to slot machines enjoy playing them? Or is it the loosing money they are addicted to? Why is it jealousy to say she need help?

There is a difference. That you fail to see it may indicate you might have some of the same issues that she does to be so oblivious. I could spend a few thousand a year on SRO and still cover the bills. I might even enjoy it for a bit. Till I think about how foolish I was. I understand the whole hobbie aspect. Let me start off by saying I know plenty of people who don't care what their collections are worth and will never sell it. People don't always invest money expecting money back. What would you say to someone who buys a sports car for personal enjoyment? Is that a good investment? Buying an expensive sports car for it to be worth jack instantly after purchase? It's not even a necessary purchase, it's simply for personal enjoyment. You seem to like to link online into "losing reality", don't you? What makes you so simple minded that you feel botting SRO and spending money automatically puts you at risk of turning off real life and wasting your life. People spend entire careers at a computer 12+ hours a day; workaholics are pretty common. Maybe you should become a therapist and talk to them instead of trying to twist online gaming into something you believe leads to life-ruining addictions.

She enjoys it so much she doesn't need to have complete and utter focus and attachment 12+ hours a day, that's what I'm saying. You do realize plenty of people have been playing SRO for years and have already enjoyed the legit part and have moved onto specifically enjoying the social part, don't you? There's a difference between "working" and "enjoying". You act as if leveling to 100 legitimately on SRO, doing the same thing over and over years later, is more enjoyable. I'm not bashing on reasons people play, I'm not bashing on anything here, I'm simply stating what everyone already knows. The social aspect is why a lot of people still play or keep in touch with the game, but I'm sure you know that. The other reason people still play is obviously to set goals, goals they haven't achieved. Goals, goals, and more goals. If you're goal is to legit to a certain level, good for you, some people have other goals, it may turn them into cheaters, you may hate them, but sometimes it's the next goal they see fit.

On what grounds does spending money on something like an online game you enjoy equal foolishness? Stop acting like you know what people should be doing with their lives. You act like people make a career out of this, that this is their life, their sole purpose for living if they are trying to achieve what Amalie is. Lets take out the money spent for a second, think about it, what is Amalie then? Not someone you would be bashing about. Funny how a little money spent turns people into creating such ridiculous assumptions.

Oh by the way, Amalie is going to be playing Aion. Nice job on your theory that she is too attached and will just get sucked in the never ending SRO loop. Some people have self-control while spending money, stop categorizing.

I ask myself that every time I log in. It must have something to do with the sections not related to SRO. Maybe it's cause I'm a mod. Then again, I doubt I would be able to stay away long even if I weren't a mod.

Lol I am the simple minded one because I see a difference in doing work on a PC and wasting time on SRO. You do realize how foolish you sound atm right? Wanna prove your point? Then answer the question. If they love the game so much why do they have to have a program play most of it for them when they are perfectly capable themselves

Saigon713 wrote:

Uh legits don't have to focus on it 12 hours a day either. And IIRC legits were way more social as a rule than the botters because we are actually there the whole time. Lets see I talked to friends while training. When people still played the game got notice of trades etc and took breaks from training to jack them with friends. Or take breaks to make AFK botters go murder and strip em. Sounds like you have not been around very many legits to say imply something as ignorant as you just did.

Saigon713 wrote:There's a difference between "working" and "enjoying". You act as if leveling to 100 legitimately on SRO, doing the same thing over and over years later, is more enjoyable.

It is the game so it does not matter. You don't want to do it then you should just work to get to a level you can attain or go play an easier game. You don't have to be capped to play the actual game. That is just a side effect of your addicted botter friends. Why should you or anyone else be allowed to bot and ruin my experience simply because you do not like the game enough to actually play and level on your own.

Saigon713 wrote:I'm not bashing on reasons people play, I'm not bashing on anything here, I'm simply stating what everyone already knows. Ok then so don't start hating on us for being rightfully upset about the actions of self centered narcisistic addicted jerks like your friend. She needs help end of story. Yeah I am being harsh but it is the truth and the truth is not always some kumbaya lets hold hands thing. You like her that is fine. If you think she does not need help then she is a big enough girl to either defend herself or not care what others have to say.

Saigon713 wrote:On what grounds does spending money on something like an online game you enjoy equal foolishness? Stop acting like you know what people should be doing with their lives. It is the grounds that you are spending way more than the game itself is worth. Especially if you have to bot and can't be bothered to actually play. Dunno why I am still responding to you as either fail to recognize addiction and foolishness or are simply out to troll and defend a "friend". It is not a matter of oppinion here. And FYI I am paying monthly for a P2P MMO that is worth it and much more fun. So spending money on an online game is not foolishness. Spending enough on a poorly run game(that you don't have the time or will to play as intended) in a month that could feed a village in africa for 2 years. That is where you reach the point of absurdity and foolishness. There is a very real line and that is over it. Yeah her money to do it with. But there is still something not right not normal there.

Saigon713 wrote:Oh by the way, Amalie is going to be playing Aion. Nice job on your theory that she is too attached and will just get sucked in the never ending SRO loop.

Oh so she is going to quit SRO entirely for Aion or is she just going to bot in both of them? I never said she was so addicted that she could not do other things or even bot in other games. Simply stated that for what it is she has an unhealthy affinity for SRO at the very least. But that much is obvious.

Saigon713 wrote:Some people have self-control while spending money, stop categorizing.

Where was her self control to quit playing and move on to a game that was actually worth playing to her. If you want to show someone with self control she is no poster child. Someone with self control is someone who despite their love of the game chooses not to play it because of what immature people have done to it. I would not mind coming back to SRO. I trained by hand to 80 and would keep going. Just people like yourself ruin it and make it not worth it for me. And I am not even gonna start on your friends.

Irony is lost on this forum. This game is some freakish opposite world. Cheating is honorable and normal. Blowing large wads of cash for piss poor service or no service at all is wise and prudent expenditure. I have been playing Multiplayer computer games for almost 30 years and cheating against another person has always been wrong. Go somewhere else if you want to defend botters. Your arguments are void on this forum.
