Its just the end of the Aztec calender, and since their calender was in stone, all it means is they did'nt make a new one before their empire fell apart. I would imagine a calender that goes for 1000 years takes a bit of time to carve. Personally its the stupidest belief I've ever heard, and one person found the information that their calender only goes up to 2012, and automatically thought thats the end of the world, then trolled the whole interbutts with it.

yep. People made a big deal out of this kind of stuff in the year 1000, year 2000, and now 2012. IMO I think the reason why people are so interested in the world ending is because they are bored with their lives and want something to happen like in movies they see.
