my AVG recognized the sro_client.exe file as a trojan, wtf.

it does that to pretty much any p.server file. don't worry, its not a virus, we all promise. just add an exception to your AVG saying not to scan the client/folders and you'll be good as new.

Ah, thanks much to that also. Now that problem is fixed, another appeared.

I have the typical "???" Error.. I have a Radeon 9700 PRO, which I have downloaded every driver I can find.. I even had windows search for ones incase I missed some. I downloaded the newest Patch, Particles.pk2, Media.pk2 and direct x 9.0c. I changed the compatibility to 95 and 98/Me and regular back and forth to try and find a solution.. No avail.

Reinstalled and re-put in the .pk2s and patches about a half hour ago, also.

I just dont understand why I dont get ??? error in the normal SRO if I actually get in. Haha.

I never knew trying to get back into SRO would be so freaking difficult. =\

I understand this topic is a week old but I am having problems with the game always getting Silkroad Online Launcher Has Stopped Working when I try to open the silkroad.exe; I use Vista.

Sigh 15-45 minute wait before getting files hosted on hotfile.

My new comp has Vista preinstalled.
Anyway, I'm having a bit of trouble making ECSRO work. I copied the 3 replacement pk2 files, and started the launcher. When I click on Fembria or any other server, an error comes up about DirectX 9.0b. I have Dx 10 already, why do I have to downgrade to 9.0? -__-

The thing that's a bit frustrating about that download page is the client is in several parts. I think there were 3 parts for the client, then the pk2 updates, and another for auto pot. Free access to the download section only allows you to download one part at a time, and there seemed to be a daily limit or something. Seems it would take a while to get it all downloaded.

The client is what takes longest, other parts are small. And the limit is like 7 mins between downloads i believe. Its not too bad

I've never dealt with .rar files before. How do the 3 client files get joined together to actually install it?

Not that I really have time to play SRO of any version, but I'm curious about the installation.

Well I ask because the IP address listed in the post I quoted above is in China. It looks like a Chinese ISP owns 221.192.0.0 - 221.195.255.255, which includes the IP address in olympis's link. I was just curious about it.

I didn't try to make an account on http://221.195.40.141:1026/fembria/. I was suspicious of the link because www.ecsro.net is in Germany, whereas the other link is in China. I would expect the registration link for the game to be in the same country at least as the game itself.

Maybe I'm just too suspicious.

Heres instructions on how to install client

Open the file downloaded named "sraecsrosetup"
>Select Your Language
>Click Next
>Click Next
>Click Next
>Make Sure Create A Desktop Icon is selected
>Click Install
>Wait for it to finish and exit out
