I think I saw a trade bot once, and it couldn't make 'reactive decisions'. Like getting off its ox when I attacked it. The best part was that it always tried again. I think I made ~20m that day.

If this system got implemented, I can see people enjoying the bots being there, although bots wouldn't remain on the game for very long, as everyone would be a thief and kill them. Maybe a new Thief VS Thief PVP possibility? Haha.

There are always ppl who will be hunters and protect the goldbots.

I doubt gold buyers would waste their time protecting those that they purchase from. Most just purchase gold then go on their merry way.

i would rather hunt a player trader than a bot trader

i mean you are protecting the bot investing time and gold. You are gaining no gold for the successfull trade (cause you are not in the party). And on top of that you will buy the gold for real money, which should be partially yours anyway.

Only good thing I can conjure of trade bots is this: They wont scream Fack u Mather/sister/brother/papa/grandma/grandpa when you kill them. Well, that and they'd be extremely easy to kill. They would never reach a high enough level to defend themselfs.

i know there will be always players who won't agree with the map i made... but i think its best way to lure bots and murder them there..(marks given on maps) its runescape based map,,, it works on Runescap this should work on silkroad too. its not finished or so, but just to give a little idea how it could look like on silkroad

Take a look at the silkroad online website, and the highest traders are TraderGirl and TraderBoy. They were already the highest 2 years ago, when I started on silkroad. =/

1. A trade bot exists / is in a working beta. Thats fact. It also has some kind of rules to act on dieing and so on blabla EDIT: btw, the tradebot does 1* trades with level <40. Clientless. If you pick 8-X traders, thats enough gold for 24/7 trading

2. TraderGirl and TraderBoy are real players, not tradebots and they've done a lot of trades on Xian. I've hunted them too with highlevel FF chars in 80 cap and so. They dont use a tradebot, but if they both were bored they started to trade for 10 hours/day ^^

Im sorry but that idea is pretty dumb imo

Yeah you have safe zones but, lets say your grinding in one of those red zone, what is gonna stop some level 100 from raping that shit out of you?

max level atack other person? 10 levels above you can't attack you ?
how deeper you go in the danger zone how higher lvls can attack you.

we all know jm likes money... the chances of 1 guy with 50 clients paying 50x$20 a month is very slim...

the chances of 50 players playing $20 each is VERY VERY high. THEREFORE!!!!
BAN ALL BOTS TO LET THE DAMN LEGITS PLAY THE FKING GAME

The only way clientless bots can be stopped, is if Joymax changes all the packet subjects they use for Silkroad Online's client, then encrypt them much more than they already have. They could use a salt string and MD5 hashing to read and send the message subjects. Then weekly, they can change the salt string to something else, which would only require 2 lines of work each week. This would ruins clientless bots, as by the time they decrypted the packet subject to use for their bot application (which with MD5 is impossible), Joymax will have changed it the next week.

This system isn't even difficult. Since all message handling in the server is done in a single function as far as I know. I could code it if I was given the opportunity.

1. Changing all packet subjects? they only can change the OPCode. And its just 1-2 days work, to get all new packet OPCodes. The other stuff is based upon the Media/Data PK2 files and could be easily read out of it.
2. "then encrypt them much more than they already have." LoL'd my ass off. there is nothing encrypted. its a nice system (and effective btw!) how the build up the OPCodes.
3. Salting would be ok, but could be cracked easily in 1-2 days too. MD5 isnt possible, cause MD5 is basing on the machine's system time. even the iSRO servers arent syncronized in time.
4. MD5 decrypting isnt impossible..

1. They can change the packet subjects sent between the client to the server and vice versa.
2. Even so, they can use MD5 to hash the packet subjects.
3. Based on system time? Do you even know what MD5 checksum algorithms are?
4. Okay. Now that made me laugh. It is impossible to crack MD5. It isn't an encryption method, it is a checksum value. I would put millions of dollars on the fact it cannot be cracked. They have a crap load of tables that can be purchased for comparing hashes, but believe me, it can't be cracked and if you think it can, you are an idiot.

If the client can decrypt the packets (which it must be able to) the owner of the computer can also do so.

Obfuscation would probably help a bit. But none of these things would of course beat a GM in each town 1-2 hours/week. Or maybe if they actually read the reports about gold bots...

Wouldn't really help. If you can see a monster on your screen, the bot can read its location from memory. That works for coordinates as well. The client (and server) must still keep track of where a character is located. And unless someone says otherwise, im of the opinion that the game does not use the coordinates shown on the screen internally.[/quote]

Are you saying that if i generate an MD5 string from something on this computer, that result would be different on another computer if the clocks are not in sync?

Bots can read the packets (and send their own). So they can certainly send the "get off ox" packet if a certain situation arises.

If I generate an MD5 hash on this computer with a file, then you generate something with the same file in a different country, they would not be different.

Do me a favor, go research about checksum algorithms before posting. My suggestion will stop all clientless bots, I just don't think Joymax has the programming knowledge to do so.
