Quests are pretty much the same whether you're playing a F2P game or P2P game. The only difference is P2P games tend to sugar coat it.

F2P and P2P games will never be the same thing, sadly

I agree. It just seems like when many people here the word "grindfest" they automatically assume the game sucks because it requires a bit more effort and self motivation on their part to achieve the next fun experience.

You have a better word? It seemed appropiate to me. From my quest experience in MMORPGs, its always going to be kill XXX or collect XXX. They only differ in presentation. The P2P games do a better job of making it not feel as tedious.

u can try 2moons

i played it during like 1 month and it was pretty cool. not the best mmorpg since the graphics are not rly good. pvp is all right. even at low level its kinda cool. but u get bored rly fast. i stopped at level 30 or 31 im not sure.

not the best game but it gets you entertained :P

and btw warcraft 3 custom games would be the best if there was less ****** dota.

By grindfest people mean a game with lack of quests. Yes you still need to kill mobs but there is an reward at the end, it sets you on a goal and you don't have to turn your bran on "power saving mode"

P2P games have high quality quests and a. actual storyline.
There is a really low % of F2P games with actual storyline's while the number of p2p games without it is even more low.

Oh and in P2P games you don't have to worry if somebody is going to be better then you by getting stuff with real money the "legal in-game way".

Guildwars, all you need to do is buy the disc which is all of about $20 and online is free. Also, the level cap is 20 so it is nowhere near a grindfest, the pvp is exciting and extremely fair, and even if you don't want to pvp that much there are a bunch of missions you can do or farm for really cool looking items.

No. It is not exciting. It is so unoriginal, with the same build for each class, and pretty much if that build isn't used, your pwnd. The PvP is all following the meta, and the game is just sooo boring. I got 8 lvl 20s RP in 1 week, and honestly it is not fun whatsoever. It can keep you occupied for maybe a month with all 4 expansions.

but again, guild wars may only be a month, for an all summer game, I would get WoW, or a game that takes a bit to get cap, and is rewarding. Not like SRO with its 6 monthss to 1 yr cap with premium ><

I dislike quests. Their rewards are usually insignificant meaning you could find the same item you were rewarded by grinding or by buying it from an NPC. Quests usually require alot of running back and forward or warping back and forward. I don't like to waste time so I see quests outside of the tutorial levels as just being a waste of time. Personally, I don't really need a quest reason to spend hours killing xxx mob over and over again.

I agree with having higher quality quests but disagree with not having a storyline. Many of the F2P games I've played have pretty good storylines.

The real money issue is a problem in some P2P games and there are a few F2P where it isn't much of an issue.

P2P games always seem to have much more content, though.

Bump! I've got a question about P2P games.

This is my example to make you guys understand me lol
Game A -> P2P (Pay to play) 15$ for 1 month

If i don't have the time to play, on that time i don't play, the paid time will be running? (ie. Prem on SRO, the time continue running even you are not logged, and that's why i hate it lol). But this apply on P2P games?

i've heard that, you play the time you pay, and if you don't play, the time what you paid will not run. :?

Ok, now i confoosed myself...

It is the same as the premiums in SRO. If you pay the monthly fee, and get bored of the game, you just threw away your money. At least this is the case with most P2P mmos, as far as I know.

If you want P2P games. Try Warhammer Online. it's pretty good. graphics are good. My pc couldn't run the max settings (I can run max settings on sro). Classes are similar for all 6 races. There's a Tank, ranged dps, melee dps and healer for each race with a few slight differences. Level cap is level 40. You can go from lv 1-40 on just killing people of the destruction or order (The opposite of whatever side you chose). There are designated pvp areas where you can go in with a bunch of people and kill people of the other faction, capture areas and hold them for influence (getting max influence in an area gives you good items). There are scenarios where you and like 10-15 others fight another team of 10-15 trying to control areas and gain points (team that reaches the limit wins). There's tons of things that I haven't said and I probably wouldn't be able to fit it all in this post. I would play Warhammer all day if I could afford the subscription (I played the 10 day trial).

For F2P games I would recommend either Requiem Bloodymare since it's the one f2p game that I haven't tried that I want to play. Cabal is alright, flashy skills but that's one of the only things I like about it. Shaiya and Rappelz just suck. Jade Dynasty is cool except it takes too long to level and the built in bot = fail. Can't say much about the others since I quit most of the f2p games in less than an hour.

I played both, but neither could keep me interested. Although I have to agree with Mirosuke, World of Kung Fu has a somewhat better crafting system, or at least I think so.

SM-Count wrote:Playing Reqiuem: Bloodymare right now, it's alright even if the map and pathfinding is ridiculously bad and the quests insult your level if intelligence, as well as the skill system that destroys you for f*&@king up (much like SRO). But if you read the forums while the 2.2 gig dl runs in the background and plan your char a tiny bit, it's actually quite enjoyable. Of course, reading the forums also has the impending doom feeling where DJ and Sacc say level 35 means grindfest, but it can't be worse than the aforementioned games.

The REAL grindfest is 62, cap is 71 atm. The area's for it are pretty awesome though and if you do things right it goes relatively fast (Making use of exp events and guildmates)
