There's nothing to argue. You're trying to tell me Jackson should not be remembered because he didn't do anything worth remembering in your eyes. Which is an opinion. If he was truly the piece of shit that you claim he is, then clearly everyone else in the world who thinks otherwise is an idiot, right?

Really, are you honestly going to call someone an idiot who questions your knowledge based on little fact but purely small excerpts from other persons? Using quotations to prove a point is one thing, relying solely on quotations to argue is idiotic at best.

To Alexander, I don't mind new people, however you're digging yourself into a very deep hole. Also, random capital-letters-in-middle-of-sentence-on-non-proper-nouns-is-win?

Spoiler!

I can be sure about the fact that you can't even type a coherent sentence, which doesn't say much for what little intelligence you must have. I'm also not the one citing irrelevant quotes to speak for me.

Trying to extend your knowledge means you're an idiot? What kind of philosophy are you preaching?
Just because you don't know certain trivial things it doesn't mean you're an idiot.

I think you're a jackass, you're stupid, narrow minded and only seem to 'thrive' on your quotations. Maybe other retards will get dazzled by your self proclaimed great knowledge of quotations, but I'm afraid there's a lack of those here.

I'm citing quotes that was made by intelligent ppl

Actually you're citing other people because you have nothing intelligent to say for yourself. Exactly what I meant when I said I hate people using other people's quotes continuously: they have nothing to say of their own.

No I'm sorry you misunderstood me. I never said he is a piece of shit. I am saying his life wasn't worth all that much to the actual mankind, not what people think. Some people think he is important, but he didn't save their lives did he? I mean his death was self-inflicted as well, so I really don't think his life is worth remembering and having thousands of people at his funeral.

Well that's what I gathered.

You wouldn't understand why he's important to these people if you weren't around to see him before he became what he was before he died. I can't explain it to you because it's the same situation that led to people loving Elvis and other cultural icons. Lots and lots of people are saying "Oh well he was a loser who did drugs all day and it's his fault he's dead blah blah blah" but that's not who he was to the rest of us, because we knew what he used to be.

Again, you can't look at someone how they were for parts of their life. If they died completely insane and put death upon themselves and hurt other people's lives, why should I respect them. Elvis didn't hurt anyone else. Why shouldn't I respect him.

You can, and people do.

Do you believe if someone does 1 bad thing in his life, he can't make up for it with something good? "Oh but he didn't do anything good in his life." Bullshit, my friend. Don't mistake me for a diehard fan but to believe people were not positively effected by his music is just ignorance.

Lol. It's not 1 thing bad he did. It's several, if you don't believe he should have been in prison for AT LEAST contempt of court, then you sir, are ignorant. People can be positively effected by his life. But some of those people wouldn't be ALIVE at all if it weren't for certain scientists who you don't see getting a funeral for 1000s of people.

people dont care about what wrong he did. he made a social movement within the music industry with impacted a generation. im sorry if u feel that some people should not be grieved over because you are too insensitive and ignorant to believe such, but if a person feels the person did something that should be mourned for or they can make a personal connection with the person, they will mourn their death. so sorry that so many people do feel this way regarding mj, and im sure that people have during the death of others as well

Hey dipshit, that was an example.

It's like I'm talking to a wall. Those scientists were no doubt recognized for their accomplishments. If you feel they aren't recognized enough, that's your problem to deal with. If you want to go and mourn every dead scientist and other people you feel are more important than anyone else then by all means take your time doing so. Right now you're just shitting up a thread about Michael Jackson.

XemnasXD wrote:MJ has probably entered more peoples lives for a greater period of time than any other person in the world. The man sold more records than anyone else and is by most standards the most successful music artist of all time. Not to sound like a douche but what have any of you done with your life that was great. People grew up listening to him, people respected him as a musician, he was easily one of the most recognizable figures of the 20th century no matter where you go in the world.

Like it or not the man was popular and revered around the world and that is why people are making a big deal about this. You could argue against their hero worship all you want but it doesn't diminish the facts about his music and his career. People do not live equal lives, as much as you'd like to think so thats not the way society have ever worked. If any of you would cry over the death of a parent or loved one than clearly you acknowledge that some people mean more to you than others. You wouldn't just shrug and say "oh ppl die all the time so this is no big deal" so stop being hypocrites. Micheal Jackson happened to mean alot of things for alot of people whether you can comprehend that or not. deal with it.

Thats true and all and I agree with most points you made...but there is a time when you just gotta accept what happened and move on...

You are a tool and a hypocrite. Besides Einstein what other scientist have you mentioned in this thread. None. I am willing to bet that if given the chance you wouldn't be able to name that many, probably only the popular ones that everyone know. While you laud there efforts and say they deserve more credit than someone like Jackson you haven't named a single one, you haven't given a single one the proper attention or respect they deserve for the works you hold in such high esteem. You haven't named any renowned Chemist, Biologist, Doctors, Surgeons, Lawyers, Philosophers, none. Instead you group them under a vague generalization diminishing their value while you attempt to diminish the value of someone else. It's easy to support the point you are trying to make but you haven't given any inclination that you actually do.

Further more who is to say that the poet doesn't touch as many lives as the scientist. Whose to say that Shakespeare wasn't as important as Galileo. I would bet that while few people know what Galileo did most people know what Shakespeare did. Shakesspeare was able to touch the souls of men in a much more profound way than Galileo, he clearly had a greater effect on people.

Idiot.

He, or his music, probably did save lives. You're being incredibly biased. MJ entered and enriched more lives than anyone you just mentioned. MJ was closer to the mass, as the people you mentioned are closer to certain groups. Being this close to people, his music touching each and everyone's lives, is bound to have an outcome like this. People are bound to miss him. People are bound to keep talking about him. Legend. That's the word.

You can't judge him on things he's never convicted for, that's not ethical. Yes, he COULD have gone to jail for contempt of court, yet, more people don't, most actually get fined, he's not an exception.

I was gonna say more, yet Xemnas summed it all up quite well. Re-read his post.

I think John Lennon was closer to the mass than MJ. After all The Beatles is the best selling band in the world. (The Beatles and Jonh Lennon would be more close to older people though. Dunno)

But on topic: I agree with Reise.

And if no one notices the death of MJ wouldn't that be even more weird than making so big thing about it?
