Vitamins acting like drugs?

Post by Psychedeelic »

weird problem... I think I got high on the pills I'm taking for better results for the exams I have this week... I'm taking MemoPlus twice every day (it's a memory enhancer I think, or something like that) and Vitamax (so I dont walk around as a zombie anymore, as I'm always sleepy.. dam sleeping times I've had the past few months, I can't recover anymore so i'm taking those to keep me awake). Vitamax has been prescripted as one pill every 2 days. Wellll I mistaken the pills and took it the day when I was supposed to take a break, so kindof overdosing. =/

So last evening around 7 p.m. I started feeling really hyper and weird and my mind was racing, couldnt think straight anymore, I kept laughing at nothing and I scared a friend on yahoo messenger cause he said I poisoned myself with something that made me hallucinate, after I convinced him i was not on drugs or drunk... it was like my body was moving by itself, without asking my brain what to do first. Then bumped into a wall while trying to find my bed and slept on the floor for an hour or two... scary shit and I dont know if it was those pills and I'm not sure which one or maybe it was the combination between them. I used to take MemoPlus 4 years ago before exams aswell, but I never had anything like that happening to me back then, it was all fine.

Tomorrow I have exam and I dont know if i should take those things today... I dont wana fall asleep tomorrow during exam or be all dull and zombieish but I dont wana be high either. That felt worse than when I accidentally got stoned while being in a room with a friend who was smoking.. worse than being drunk lol

Anyone ever had this happening? I might screw my whole existance tomorrow, as if I fail this exam I wont be able to get to university anymore, and it might all depend on these pills...

I have no experience on those pills, but I would just take them as directed to do so.

I think the VitimanX one just pushed you over the edge with the energy it gives off. Kind of like dayquil. just giving you a boost of energy, that's probably why you acted hyper/high. There was too much and your body needed to get rid of it some how. Yes you could have died possibly if you OD on that pill because your heart was probably racing.

Just be careful and take the pills the way you are supposed to.
Joymax, what a joke. (Thanks to Grandpa for the sig)

heya dee, i remember you always seem to have problems with sleeping, and i know your exams are really tough for you,

im just guessing here but maybe everything is catching up with your body and the extra vitamins created a unusual sensory responce wich you perceived as getting out of it?,
ive had this experiance a few times myself while under tons of pressure

Get some good sleep pl0x xD

MemoPlus doesn't help with memory, no drugs have significant(meaning statistically noticeable) effects on improving memory besides Alzheimer's meds, which would be really bad for you. Oh, ADHD line of medicine increases action in the brain which does lead to higher levels of concentration, but side effects are not worth it.

Conclusion: Stop taking the meds, they don't work.

=o hiiii xD
I will most likely be able to sleep from next week rofl... and yeah I guess my body is not used to that, even though I've been taking them (well without accidents)for abt 2 months now. I guess coffee didnt help either lol

and SM-Count thanks for the advice =] I will think about quitting MemoPlus, but Vitamax keeps me awake and focused

memoplus is more like placebo pill, it just makes you think you're smarter xD but some people say there are effects just you dont notice them

if you see me typing weird here tonight then I'm screwed.

Is that thing even approved? But seriously, even Alzheimer's drugs are not designed to "cure" it but rather slow down its progression. As for "MemoPlus," though I've never heard of it and I'm too sleepy to open Davis Drug Guide or Google then read it at the moment, if it is "enhancement vitamins" like you said, it might have (most likely) caused an electrolyte imbalance which could be deadly - especially ones involving Ca++ and K. If it's an opiate derivative drug, then get me one of those ASAP - jk :P . But seriously, if it is, then you definitely need to follow the prescription for it or talk to your physician if you did and it still gave you a serious adverse effect. The controversial ADHD drug, Ritalin, is also known to have similar effects which gives you a feeling of euphoria - I've never tried it but a classmate of mine has and she told me half a pill does the job for her. And for the record, Ritalin does not help you concentrate better in school - it's a myth. The drug is a stimulant rather than a sedative (most people find this surprising) so if you take it and you weren't diagnosed (not self-"diagnosed") you'll probably end up too jacked-up to even concentrate on reading a single paragraph from your textbook. But anyway, final advice - stop the drug and call your physician.

Extra vitamins are mostly useless if you eat healthy.

Malnutrition or malabsorbtion should be the only reasons to take vitamins in most cases.

Unless you're planning to get pregnant or are within the first 2 months of pregnancy. Then a folic acid supplement is justifiable.

um... drugs are any chemicals taken into body by a simple definition...
and chemicals are everything you do as a living person... stop eating/breathing if you want to avoid taking in chemicals :D

you're as addicted to eating as any other druggie lol, tell me eating doesnt help athletes improve their games more than taking steriods
How do you explain a naked woman to a pubescent, visually impaired teen?

If you're not sleeping well you could be suffering from sleep deprivation, which can exhibit some of the symptoms you mentioned above. Taking pills to compensate for not sleeping isn't helpful. You should address the causes of your insomnia with your doctor, but I can give you a few pointers that helped me overcome mine:
1. Stop drinking caffeine, period. Cut it down to one serving of caffeine before 11am to start, but get off it completely.
2. Eat healthier and exercise more.
3. Don't use your bedroom for anything other than sleeping, i.e. don't read, do homework, go on a laptop or talk on the phone in your bed.
4. Find out if stress or anxiety is causing your insomnia, see a therapist, resist the urge to get on more drugs.
5. Don't ever take over the counter sleep aids, they can be highly addictive.
6. Do yoga, stretch, or meditate before bedtime.
7. Get on a routine sleeping pattern. Try to go to bed at the same time and wake up at the same time everyday.

I bolded what was most important for me.
