Here's my 2 cents.

I saw the trailer and was crazy excited about it. It took me a couple of weeks to track it down, like you i um... get it from a "friend" <.<.. >.>.. Anyway, i watched it today. Maybe 2 hours ago, so its still fresh in my mind. I think that the concept was great, and that they could have really turned this into a great movie, but unfortunatley something was lacking. Well, in the end i felt disappointed. I had build such a big fuss over this movie, and it did not live up to my expectation, so i doomed it for myself.

Still, i wouldn't suggest people not to watch the movie, its not a bad 2hours. Just don't get your hopes up too much. =)

Now, i enjoyed the End of the world aspect to it, but the whole alien thing??? God that just bombed. I mean, they could have maybe pulled it off, if the aliens werent just some people who stand there, incapable of speech.. however, what really threw it over the OMG WTF SUCK meter was the true true ending. ADAM & EVE and the Tree of EDEN? SERIOUSLY?!?!?!?!??!!.... i facepalmed hard

Anyway. Enjoy

Well, im sure you know that 2012 is supposed to be the end of days right? There are a couple of thing for it, 1 is the Mayan Calender, the other is the apparent polar shift, and another one which i've been reading up on is the apparent near collision of a planet that is called Nibiru. Anyway, according to i think the Mayan prophesy, not only does their calender end on 2012, but "The tree of life, which gave life to the Mayan people will return once more to the earth" OWTTE. So, thats why i thought they played the Tree of life card in the ending there. Personally im not a big believer in the whole 2012 end of days prophesy. However, i do enjoy reading up on all the theories and conspiracies for it. Its pretty funny, and intriguing at the same time tbh. But just like any other prophesy, one can never prove it until it happens no? and even when it happens, how can you prove that the prophesy was real. I mean, take Nostradamus' supposed prophesy for the 9/11 attacks. So many versions, so many changes, so many adaptations. Can one really call it truth?

ok sooo i keep in mind i was my teacher about 2 months ago that knew all of this stuff by heart so ill just say what i can remember

ill get the obvious ones out of the way first
the ending was the garden of eden (i.e. 1 big tree 2 people male and female and they were each given an animal to repopulate animals as well)
the aliens had whispy looking wings so they were angels(a lot of people i went with didnt even notice them but they were there)
hmm i can only really think of one more at the moment and its hazy at best but ill try anyway...
those round black rocks that appeared throughout the movie were linked to some old testament story very closely something about picking up blessed rocks (or something like that) from the bed of some river and where ever those rocks were placed were placed that god would step...so at the end where they met in the riverbed where there were loads of those rocks everywhere that was god coming forth
if someone who actually know about the old testament can clear this up a bit that'd be appreciated cuz im sure i slaughtered it

The disaster scenes made me feel like I was watching a videogame cutscene. The fire at the plane crash looked so fake it instantly took me out of the movie. Nicholas' reaction to the disasters was highly unnatural and unrealistic. Yelling 'hey' at people that are on fire.. not panicking, screaming 'HOLY SHIT or OH MY GOD', crying or anything.

The single mother meets single father thing was just beyond cliché.

The alien idea was allright I guess but the way they stalked the kids, whispering stuff and creeping around was just unlogical and pointless. Just take them away instead of dicking around for a week. -.-

Well, the mayans don't say the world ends, they just say we elevate into a higher level of consciousness, note the actual difference. Sounds pretty lolzy though. Anyway that is pretty interesting.
