It's not difficult to make a webpage, regardless of the OS. Here, I'll get you started.

Code: Select all

<html>
<body>

<p>This is a webpage.  I like it.  I can post pictures, like this one:  <img>http://www.photobucket.com/someaccount/pic.jpg</img>.</p>

<p>Check out <a href="http://www.pendrivelinux.com>this page</a>!</p>

</body>
</html>

On topic: Personally, I'd buy the PC and put Linux on it. I left Windows a while ago, and have no plans on ever going back.

    * Linux will run better on the system than Windows will. It takes up less resources overall.
    * You won't have to worry NEARLY as much about antivirus and the like.
    * Linux does have plenty of games: http://whdb.com/2008/top-25-linux-games-for-2008/
    * Linux can also run plenty of Windows games through the use of wine or Crossover. Often times, it runs the games even better than Windows does, on the same hardware.
    * Linux has The GIMP, which seems to be a fine replacement for Photoshop.

guess i didn't explain myself better. its the SIMPLE stuff i cant do the more complicated stuff is easy as cake. like with the web page just saving it as a .htm or .html didn't work even though i wrote it in the right format and such.

@pro i know how to make a web page with html......saving it as a web page was the difficult part that i don't know even to this day.

I don't remember ever using <HEAD> tags way back when I used to do HTML pages. I typically just used HTML, BODY, content..., /BODY, /HTML. Even looking at an HTML tutorial, they don't use those tags in the first example. Is HEAD even required?

Granted I haven't actually done HTML in about 10 years.

when you renamed it .html while saving, you probably had "hide file extension" checked. So it was actually being saved as index.html.rtf. In the drop down box just selecting HTML as the saving format, if such an occasion would one day arrive again.

This is another thing I like about Linux. Linux doesn't really care about file extensions, for the most part anyway. The extension is just another part of the file name.

Lol well..

Apple released a statement about a year(?) ago advising Mac users to download anti virus software. There goes half your argument. Many, many, many anti virus programs are free and just as good as ones you pay for. Avoiding viruses is extremely easy..like not clicking on "OMG CHECK MY FREE PICS @ notavirus.com!!!!" that people send you on msn which leads to a virus..

Doesn't take a genius to avoid viruses or realize that most AV's are free.

You're not telling the whole story. You're leaving out the fact that apple withdrew said statement a week later. Claiming it not to be needed at all.

Which it isn't.

an iMac (2009 version, 2,93 ghz one) with an extra led cinema display
or a core i7 920, 2x gtx 285, 6gb,an extra ssd and 2x a 23" samsung LCD.

If you could choose between those 2 systems, which one would you get.
iMac would be used for lightroom/photoshop exclusively and the core i7 for photoshopping and gaming
I would go with the pc. Even though Mac is better for gfx, you can still use photoshop on a PC. Playing games on a mac is nearly impossible though. If you said exclusively for gfx I would have said go with the mac, but if you intend to game on it you're much better off with a PC.

There are no games for the Mac? What about these? WoW, Halo, and Diablo 2 are included plus several others.

If I remember correctly, doesn't OS X have a Linux compatibility layer on it? If so, then couldn't you also run Linux games on the Mac?

What about using crossover on the Mac to play Windows games?

Yes there are games for Macs.

No they aren't new or better than their PC versions.

I'm not a Windows loyalist or anything but there's just too many things I don't like about the Mac - overpricing being the primary factor for this; seriously, the idea of paying $1K+ dollars for a Mac with the same power as a $450 PC is simply out of my grasp. Plus, the fact that there's no right mouse button - it's like buying a car with no break pedal to me. In addition, there's a lot of things that aren't Mac compatible - like a lot of online games (eg. Cabal).

But if you want something that looks white, neat, and glowing - go waste your money on a Mac.

Then again, that's just my opinion.

You can have a right mouse button, just have to go into settings.

Yea, you *can* game on a mac. You can also enjoy the video lag, random crashes, and sub-par performance too.

My mistake, I never saw that article. Regardless staying away from viruses on a PC is nothing hard or stressful..

Edit: first google.. =\

Well who knows how reliable the source is, viruses are only a matter of time anyway..

get a "pc", simply better in every single way. as a side note i would question if you really want to pay 350 bucks for a gtx 285 when the gt 300 and has directx 11 support ( which requires new hardware, current cards wont do ).

Well in that case, get a Mac and put Linux on it. Linux seems to run a lot of games better than they run in XP, well at least with SRO. (save the comments on how 'horrible' SRO is because of service, blah blah... I'm just speaking from a software perspective.)

I'd assume you can dual boot a Mac with OS X and Linux, since you can run XP on it dual boot right? Just replace XP with Linux. Done gaming, reboot to OS X to enjoy the Mac in all its glory. :)

DX10 is just coming of the ground, if from now i have to buy a new videocard every year because DX gets updated I wont do that. Plus that they will cost probably as much as the 8800 series when they were released, I then paid 350 euros for a 8800gts 320 mb :roll:. If I start waiting for the next piece of hardware I wont ever buy the PC, by the time the GT300 comes out Intel might have their new line-up ready and so on

actually intel will but it will perform like a gtx 285 and NVIDIA cant lunch with crazy prizes for now couse ATI will be releasing it's directx 11 cards in the 200-300$ segment, so unless NVIDIA wants to relive the rape ATI gave it when it released its 4800 series things will go as mentioned so yay ATI for stabilizing the market and yay for us who get good-ish deals.

and wow is Dom really a mactard or is he just trolling us ?
